Job description

Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms of every size to work smarter, faster, and more securely.

We are transforming the legal experience for all by bettering the lives of legal professionals while increasing access to justice.

Summary:

We're looking for a Senior Director, Inbound Marketing & Operations to step into one of the most strategic leadership roles in our marketing org. Marketing is accountable for a significant amount of Clio's revenue, and this role sits at the center of how that engine runs and scales. We've grown to $400M+ ARR and require a leader who has operated at comparable scale - someone who knows what it takes to build the systems, the team, and the strategic rigor that keeps a growth engine accelerating at this level.

You'll lead a sizable team across three pillars - Digital Strategy, Marketing Data Analytics, and Marketing Operations - with three Senior Managers reporting directly to you, we're looking for a true leader of leaders. You'll sit on the marketing leadership team, reporting to our CMO, and present regularly to the broader executive team. This is a high-visibility, high-impact engagement for a leader who thrives in complexity and moves fast without sacrificing rigor.

This role is available across Canada (excluding Quebec) and the US, or based out of our Vancouver, Calgary, or Toronto hub offices.

This is a fixed term contract role (12-18-months) to backfill a key leadership position. While no assurances can be made, the business is growing rapidly and with that growth comes real, ongoing need for strategic, impact-focused leaders.

Who you are:

You're a strategic, analytically minded marketing leader who knows that sustainable growth comes from pairing strong inbound experiences with disciplined operations, precise measurement, and relentless optimization.

You've built attribution frameworks from the ground up; not just read the data, but set the methodology, earned stakeholder trust in the numbers, and used those insights to influence how the business allocates its marketing investment. You know what a high-converting web presence actually looks like and have the track record to back it up. And you're the kind of leader who can walk into a room with a CMO or a CFO and make complexity feel manageable.

You're a player-coach in a strategic sense, you set vision and hold the team to high standards, while staying close enough to execution to spot what's not working and course correct quickly. You bring clarity to ambiguous situations and momentum to stalled ones.

You care deeply about building high-performing teams, scalable systems, and trusted cross-functional partnerships, and you know how to balance short-term performance with longer-term growth.

What you'll work on:
  • Digital & Web Strategy: Own and transform our web presence as a primary revenue channel, driving digital strategy end-to-end (including website performance, CRO, and conversion experimentation).

  • Inbound & Lifecycle Strategy: Drive the strategic direction of our global inbound and email marketing programs, including nurture strategy, lifecycle segmentation, and funnel performance, with direct accountability for pipeline outcomes.

  • Funnel Ownership & Cross-Functional Alignment: Own the end-to-end lead funnel in partnership with Growth Marketing and Revenue Operations, ensuring clear funnel definitions, strong conversion performance, and seamless handoffs across the buyer journey.

  • Attribution Architecture: Own and evolve our attribution architecture and measurement framework, including the underlying methodology and the investment decisions it informs. Build trust in the data across marketing and revenue teams, and translate insights into clear, executive-ready recommendations.

  • Marketing Operations & MarTech: Own and evaluate the martech architecture and operational foundation, ensuring the right systems are in place, well-integrated, and supporting the scalable workflows that keep the marketing engine running efficiently.

  • Analytics & Growth Diagnostics: Apply rigorous analysis to identify key performance drivers, growth levers, and strategic opportunities that materially impact revenue outcomes. Partner with Revenue Operations and Data Science to ensure comprehensive reporting and dashboards are in place and actionable.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and coach a sizable, layered team, developing your leaders, holding the team to a high performance bar, and fostering a culture of accountability, experimentation, and data-informed decision-making.

What you may have:
  • 15+ years of experience in SaaS B2B marketing, with senior leadership experience spanning inbound marketing, marketing analytics, and marketing operations

  • You've operated at scale ($300M+ ARR) and understand what makes a marketing engine successful at this level of complexity and growth

  • You've built or matured attribution models, set the measurement methodology, influenced how the business thinks about marketing's contribution to revenue, and used data to shift investment at the executive level

  • Deep experience owning web and digital as a primary revenue channel, including website strategy, CRO, and conversion optimization

  • Hands-on familiarity with modern marketing technology stacks (marketing automation, CRM, analytics, and experimentation tools) and experience leading martech initiatives at scale

  • Demonstrated ability to create alignment and exert influence across Growth Marketing, Product Marketing, Revenue Operations, Data Science, and Sales

  • Experience leading sizable teams with multi-leadership layers, holding

  • Comfortable presenting to C-suite and executive stakeholders, translating complexity into clear narratives and earning credibility quickly

  • A bias for action when stepping into complex, fast-moving environments; driving clarity, alignment, and impact quickly

Serious bonus points if you have:
  • Experience leading global or multi-region marketing teams

  • Legal tech experience

This role is a backfill for an existing position.
