Our Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division currently has an opening for an Engine Test Cell Operator position located in the Corinth, MS facility. This position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems. The incumbent generally resolves issues by following departmental guidelines and standard work or making changes based on root cause corrective actions. This position may float to work in any area of the engine production line or test cell areas as needed to meet daily production requirements.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Work in a fast-paced, safety and quality focused team environment to perform various assembly and test processes.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to contamination control guidelines
  • Will require print reading skills and quality checks, as defined by standard work.
  • Will use hand tools, power tools, gages, hoists, presses, torque tools, and other tools as necessary.
  • Will be required to follow production schedules
  • May be required to utilize various computer systems including MES, BIQ, Pinpoint, Epix, ITest and Cat ET.
  • Will be required to operate an engine test cell and perform initial diagnostics and adjustments.
  • May require utilizing overhead cranes, and/or electric pallet jack to move parts in and out of area.
  • All operators will adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Operator should have attention to detail and be self-motivated.
  • Operator is expected to cross train to provide flexibility.
  • Candidate will work in an environment without close supervision.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience performing basic mechanical reports, including minor repairs (ex. hose or line tightening), flow timing, troubleshoot timing, calibration, or oil pressures.
  • Experience performing Electrical Testing
  • Experience with reading and understanding blueprints/schematics.
  • Must have sufficient computer skills to work with the following systems: EPIX, Common Test, CTES, MES, CATET, PSPS, SIS Web, and BIQ.
  • Must have good working knowledge of hand tools and various power tools (hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, etc.)
  • Experience performing advanced troubleshooting of engine test failures.
  • Basic understanding of PLC inputs/outputs

Top Candidates will also have:
  • 5 years of engine mechanic experience in automotive or diesel engines
  • One year of vocational program (after high school) or equivalent on the job training program
  • Detail oriented and strong analytical capabilities
  • CPI- Record and awareness
  • Must be able to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:
  • May work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures
  • May walk, squat and bend for intervals of 15-30 minutes
  • Must be able to wear proper PPE.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, medium-to-heavy duty assembly, technical environment.
  • Work may involve frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, and standing on concrete for 10 hours.
  • May require the ability to lift 25 pounds and withstand repetitive movement of hands with a variety of tooling.

Job Bid Eligibility Requirements:
  • Any current agency workers applying to this position must have worked the required 300 hours to be considered as well as meeting all requirements for the position.

Starting hourly pay rate of $26.55 (pay negotiations based on skills/experience)
This position is 2nd shift with an additional 7% night shift premium
Work Hours: 3PM - 1AM; Monday - Thursday
40-hour work weeks with potential for overtime
80 hours of vacation with an additional 3 days (hours dependent on work schedule) of Paid Time Off
(PTO) (all prorated based on hire date)
10 Paid holidays

Summary Pay Range:
$26.55 - $34.45
