Summary of Position Functions

The Senior Project Developer will manage the development of Energy Efficiency projects in support of the Veregy sales teams. This effort will include energy audits, energy conservation measures design, bidding and negotiating subcontractor costs, sales support and support the team responsible for construction of energy conservation projects. The Senior Project Developer shall ensure the developed projects meet acceptability of budgets and timelines, conformance to federal and state laws and adherence to approved specifications (internal and customer).

Essential Position Functions

  • Performs or supervises energy audits, energy modeling, measurement, verification, or retro-commissioning studies.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to junior staff supporting Senior Project Developer projects.
  • Provides support to sales to ensure that projects are developed on a predictable schedule.
  • Collaborates with other engineering functions to identify and recommend energy savings strategies to achieve more energy-efficient operation.
  • Leads energy-related design or construction issues, such as energy engineering, energy management, or sustainable design.
  • Analyzes, interprets, or creates graphical representations of energy data, using engineering software.
  • Attends relevant internal and external technical meetings and design reviews.
  • Communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Advises clients and colleagues on topics such as climate control systems, energy modeling, data logging, sustainable design, or energy auditing.
  • Participates in reviewing architecture, mechanical, or electrical plans or specifications to evaluate energy efficiency.
  • Ensures effective communication with clients, third parties and colleagues throughout the project life cycle.
  • Prepares energy-related project reports, like PFA and IGA and technical documentation in compliance with approved specifications and industry standards.
  • Researches the newest information in renewable or alternative energy systems or technologies.
  • Qualifies project feasibility based on energy savings, project paybacks, customer needs, and applicable procurement and funding methods.
  • Supports the sales teams, and involves extensive collaboration between both internal team members and customers.
  • Assists sales with funding sources and procurement paths.
  • Tracks activities and action items of projects within internal tracking platforms and ensure project deliverables meet deadlines.
  • Meets with customers and clearly communicates our process for working together.
  • Performs preliminary project site walks to identify EEMs and provides a unique solution customized to customer needs.
  • Coordinates with the sales team to develop project pricing and cashflow analyses.
  • Provides technical expertise during salesโ€™ presentations and meetings with customers.
  • Coordinates with customer representatives and utilities to gather billing and energy data to develop energy utility analyses to qualify project feasibility.
  • Guides salespeople on relaying project specifics to customers in cases where delays or complications may arise.
  • Innovates new ways to expand on and improve the development process through consistent communication peers and other stakeholders.
  • Participates in sales and industry conferences, events, and customer interactions.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields like Construction Science, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Requires 3 years of experience in project development.
  • 2 years of Energy Engineering experience is desired.
  • 1 year of experience in the following computer applications: AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, Procore, MS Project, Microsoft Office applications, RS Means estimating and any other company standard software is preferred for the position.

  • Ability to present to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to establish and maintain development and construction budgets as demonstrated by two verifiable references who will be contacted.
  • Ability to demonstrate success in working effectively with subcontractor market and A/E teams as shown by two verifiable references who will be contacted.
  • Ability to take a leadership role on estimating projects from start to finish as shown by two verifiable references who will be contacted.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priority with end users.
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively before customers and staff.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
  • Knowledge of Veregyโ€™s services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
