The Assistant Director of Energy Management, reporting to the Facilities Management Director, oversees all university energy programs and building operations to include campus facilities maintenance, distribution systems, energy production plants, and all system-wide energy-consuming assets. Is responsible for planning, development, implementation, and management energy efficiency projects and sustainability initiatives; Management of operational budgets, analyze energy consumption data, and review utility billing for accuracy; Ensures full alignment with all applicable energy codes, regulatory policies, institutional guidelines, and industry best practices; Provides leadership and daily supervision for the delivery Building and Operational Services functions and execution of routine maintenance, preventative maintenance schedules, and facility repairs across carpentry, plumbing, painting, mechanical, and electrical systems within Facilities Management Department.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 5 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Other applicable technical certifications or licenses; experience with any or all the following; School Dude work management and utility programs, Johnson Controls systems including METASYS energy management system, other energy savings and recycling programs.

  • Compile, analyze, and track monthly energy and utility consumption data, isolating performance breakdowns by individual building.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Input accurate consumption metrics into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to facilitate statutory reporting to the South Carolina Energy Office.
  • Building Automation Scheduling: Program and manage Building Energy Management Systems (EMS) to align heating, cooling, and lighting schedules with classrooms, special events, and variable facility use.
  • Policy Support: Evaluate historical utility data to identify efficiency trends, Develop and implement energy-conservation policies.
  • Waste Stream & Recycling Administration: Track campus-wide recycling and waste diversion metrics to generate comprehensive annual trash disposal and sustainability reports.
