Job description

Position Summary... What you'll do...Installs HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics. Configures and calibrates low ambient systems and direct digital controls to meet operational specifications. Interprets layout plans and schematics to ensure accurate system setup and compliance with building codes. Diagnoses and resolves mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues across commercial and industrial systems. Implements preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and minimize downtimes. Maintains and repairs rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, and supermarket refrigeration units. Ensures the proper operation of HVAC systems and Energy Management Systems by performing routine checks, identifying issues, and coordinating necessary maintenance or repairs under manager and training technician supervision. Uses heavy machinery. Adheres to OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols during all service activities. Conducts inspections and repairs in compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R regulations, including cold chain and indoor air quality requirements. Reclaims ozone-depleting refrigerants and ensures proper documentation of refrigerant usage. Leads field teams and mentors less-experienced Technicians and Apprentices on technical procedures and safety practices. Communicates effectively with customers to explain technical issues and service outcomes. Manages escalated service issues and coordinates with external service providers as needed. Receives and follows instructions from Managers and Training Technicians to perform assigned tasks accurately and efficiently. Assists in implementing training plans and operational procedures as directed by Managers and Training Technicians. Drives a company vehicle to complete service calls and manage operational needs within an assigned region. Participates in an on-call rotation to support business critical needs outside of standard business hours. During assigned on-call periods, responds in a timely manner to incidents or requests and supports issue resolution or appropriate escalation as needed. Coordinates service calls and manages workload using digital tools and scheduling systems. Tracks refrigerant levels, parts inventory, and vendor relationships to ensure resource availability. Submits warranty claims, expense reports, and work orders to support financial sustainability. Completes work assignments and priorities following directions and/or guidance from Manager or Training Technician in HVAC/R service by using HVAC/R policies, data, and resources. Collaborates with management, co-workers, customers, and other business partners. Works or trains at multiple facilities or distant locations. Maintains company vehicles in accordance with company policies and procedures. Coordinates and transports vehicles for required maintenance, ensuring beforehand that alternate driving support is arranged. Safely operates motor vehicles and ensures that the vehicle has all required documents. Checks fuel and water levels, brake condition, signals, and lights. Submits maintenance invoices for payment. Verifies the coverage and validity of vehicle insurance. Wears company uniform and badge in accordance with company policies and procedures. Leads and participates in teams by using and sharing resources, information, and tools; determining customer needs and business priorities; coordinating and executing work assignments; providing advice, feedback, and support to ensure timelines and work quality are achieved; and modeling and helping others with how to adapt to change or new challenges. The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
