Job Overview

The Lead Systems Administrator on the IT Operations Endpoint Engineering team is a senior, direct technical leader responsible for the reliability, security, and scalability of the company's endpoint ecosystem. This role ensures endpoints are managed and secured as a critical "front door" to corporate systems.

Job Description and Requirements

Key Responsibilities

1) Endpoint Management Platform Ownership

  • Own and continuously improve endpoint management capabilities that enable secure, scalable provisioning, configuration, compliance, and software delivery across the endpoint fleet.

  • Lead initiatives and operational maturity in areas such as Intune optimization, Autopilot improvements, and endpoint analytics/advanced reporting.

  • Drive platform reliability and prevent issues through initiative-taking monitoring, health checks, and lifecycle management of endpoint tooling.

2) Endpoint Security Baselines & Vulnerability Reduction

  • Implement and support endpoint security controls and hardening baselines in partnership with Security teams, with an emphasis on measurable risk reduction and audit readiness.

  • Lead vulnerability response workstreams such as vulnerability remediation programs, and security tool integrations.

  • Implement and maintain enterprise security expectations while preserving end-user productivity and operational continuity.

3) Provisioning, Deployment, and Change Execution at Scale

  • Own endpoint provisioning workflows and zero-touch/low-touch deployment practices.

  • Partners with adjacent teams to ensure endpoint changes are aligned with compliance, required controls and Security expectations.

4) Tier 3/4 Escalation, Incident Response, and Problem Management

  • Function as a top-level escalation point for complex endpoint incidents impacting Enterprise systems.

  • Lead root cause analysis efforts and implements durable fixes to prevent repeated incidents and reduces support burden.

5) Automation & Operational Excellence

  • Build and support automation to reduce repetitive manual work and improve consistency.

  • Establish and enforce best practices that optimize for scale and improve end-user outcomes.

6) Documentation, Knowledge Transfer, and Enablement

  • Create and support runbooks, operational playbooks, and high-quality documentation.

  • Provide technical enablement to Service Desk and partner teams to reduce escalations and increase first-contact resolution.

7) Cross-Team Collaboration & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Collaborate across IT Operations and Security, recognizing that Endpoint Engineering work has broad impact and multiple internal "customers."

  • Partner with Security, vendors, and internal IT teams to execute endpoint projects and platform improvements.

  • Contribute to committing roadmaps and delivery processes in areas including endpoint modernization and least privileged access improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience leading endpoint administration/engineering work in an enterprise environment.

  • Strong troubleshooting capability across endpoint policy/configuration, deployment workflows, and large-scale endpoint operational issues.

  • Proven ability to document processes, develop operational standards, and improve systems through being initiative-taking instead of reactive.
