Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Environmental Service Specialty Technician, you will help provide basic and specialized cleaning services throughout the hospital. Your primary focus will be on the maintenance and cleaning of hard and soft flooring surfaces, including stairwells, hallways, and public spaces, using heavy mechanical equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, polishers, extractors, and wet vacuuming equipment, used in the cleaning and maintenance of hard and soft (i.e., carpet) flooring surfaces, including stairwells, hallways and public spaces.

You will also work in Specialty Units, providing a safe care environment for patients, and staff (visitors as appropriate to setting) within a specialty area (surgical services/perioperative suite, cath lab, endoscopy, etc.) achieved by demonstrating the principles of cleaning, disinfecting and quality assurance toward the reduction of harmful pathogens for the benefit of patients, visitors and staff. Other responsibilities may also include work in the Environmental Services Technician classification.

Every day you will maintain a clean and safe environment within the hospital, with a primary focus on floor care and specialized cleaning in various hospital units.

To be successful in this role, you must be proficient in floor care equipment and specialized cleaning and disinfection protocols, strictly adhere to safety and compliance standards, be thorough and proactive, communicate effectively with all hospital personnel while respecting privacy and demonstrate strong personal accountability.

  • Responsible for completing as assigned, performs all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, including hard surfaces and carpeting, stripping and waxing floor surfaces
  • Performs project work and specialty tasks according to facility needs. Can include tasks such as conference room set up/dismantle according to function sheets and schedules, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of cubicle curtains
  • Responsible for cleaning and disinfection of specialty units & equipment. Areas include but are not limited to Surgical Services, Labor Delivery, Critical Care, Endoscopy, MRI, Trauma, Cath Lab, NICU, Mental Health and Burn Unit
  • Performs duties while demonstrating working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor saving products for all items within the specialty environment tasked with servicing
