About the Role
We are looking for a Surgical Research Technician to join our Surgical Services. In this role, you will contribute to laboratory animal care, husbandry, and animal research activities in support of medical device development.
This role will be located at our facility in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the evaluation of new medical devices in surgical and interventional research settings
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, physicians, scientists, and study directors to develop and conduct nonclinical studies
  • Collect, create, and maintain accurate, well-documented study records and quality system documentation
  • Prepare animals for surgical procedures and support post-operative recovery
  • Administer medications to research animals via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous routes
  • Monitor and manage anesthesia across multiple laboratory animal species
  • Observe and track animal health and status throughout the duration of studies
  • Operate and maintain standard operating-room equipment such as anesthesia machines and defibrillators
  • Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and upkeep of medical and laboratory equipment
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, AAALAC, IACUC, FDA, and USDA regulations while contributing to protocol and SOP development

Required Qualifications
  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT or equivalent) degree or bachelor's degree in a bioscience with a minimum 1 year experience in a veterinary or lab animal setting, OR 2 years hands on animal experience in veterinary nonclinical research or veterinary clinical practice
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a small team
  • Ability to use basic computer applications, including email, word processing, and team communication tools
  • Demonstrated compassion for animal care
  • Emotional capacity and sensitivity to support associates who work in the research environment daily
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to travel up to 5 %

Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the operation of angiography, ultrasound, IVUS, and/or CT equipment
  • Understanding of good laboratory practices (GLP)
