As a result, the majority of our staff are hybrid and work both from home and onsite. Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and Wednesday, Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.
DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Production Group provides production and post-production support to producers within and outside of GBH. The OutPost is the post-production department within The Production Group that offers on-line and off-line editing, color-grading, audio mixing and duplication/file encoding services for clients across the PBS and commercial landscape.
JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Post Production Manager, the Part Time Assistant Editor (AE) supports post-production activities for OutPost and their clients. Under the guidance and supervision of the Post Production Manager and Senior Manager, the AE, will ingest and edit media, prepare assets for editors, and manage the workflows for each production. The AE will manage a wide variety of simultaneous projects that require a savvy technician who can prioritize and adapt to fast-changing environments. This is a part time position/20 hrs per week. The amount of hours may increase as the work dictates.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant editor supports productions in a multitude of ways, often with significant deadlines. This includes:
  • Support film teams in post-production by organizing media and projects, ingesting, grouping, syncing, assemblies as needed, and updating and supporting media and projects on Avid Nexus and Edit Share

  • Working with the Technology and OutPost teams: support remote workflows customized to the needs of each production and guide them through the OutPost and the GBH system

  • On-boarding producers, editors and assistant editors into GBH remote edit systems

  • Coordinating and receiving media from producers - both in physical form and through internet delivery systems.

  • Archiving and managing media and projects in coordination with on and off-site teams

  • Preparing media and sequences for editors

  • Encoding outputs of sequences and delivering them through Sony Ci and other distribution systems

  • Coordinating and assembling subtitles for translations

  • Assembling or cutting scenes from scripts

  • Additional duties as assigned

SKILL SET
  • A passion for post-production

  • A professional background demonstrating one's ability to work well under pressure, perform quickly, accurately and independently is vital for success in this position.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills and excellent follow-through.

  • Possess a calm, collegial and diplomatic disposition.

  • Proficient in Avid editing platform; knowledge of Avid Nexus, Interplay and Adobe Suite desired, including experience converting projects from Adobe to Avid or DaVinci. Knowledge of Edit Share higly preferred.

  • Experience working with several productions from end to end and be open to different modes and models of production.

  • Experience organizing and completing long-term archiving projects or media management projects is a significant plus.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekend and evening work.

  • Punctuality and attendance are a must.

  • Knowledge of Macintosh and Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and FileMaker required.

  • Organization and project management, media management, grouping, script syncing, and Avid troubleshooting skills required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and at least 2-3 years of experience working in production/post production environment.

Salary Range
$46,200 - $61,000Compensation offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and internal pay equity.
