Your day to day as a Paramedic/EMT-B
As a PRN Paramedic/EMT-B at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics, you will deliver holistic care that encompasses clinical interventions, coordination of services, and comprehensive patient and family education. To excel as a PRN Paramedic/EMT-B at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics, you will need to possess a blend of technical skills and interpersonal attributes. A valid Iowa Advanced EMT or Paramedic Certification is essential, along with maintaining ongoing education and certifications from the IDPH Bureau of EMS, including Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Neonatal Resuscitation within one year of hire. A current Iowa Driver's License is required, and PHTLS certification is preferred. Clinical knowledge is crucial for performing quality patient care duties effectively. You must be proficient in reading, writing, and following both written and oral instructions, while also demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning within your scope of practice.
Strong customer service skills, empathy, tact, and kindness are vital for building rapport with patients and families. Additionally, the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with team members will be essential for success in this role.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
  • Advanced EMT or Paramedic Certification
  • Current State of Iowa Advanced EMT /Paramedic Certification
  • Must maintain certification and education requirements with IDPH Bureau of EMS
  • Must maintain Basic Life Support
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (paramedic)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (paramedic) upon hire and Neonatal Resuscitation (paramedic) certification within 1 year of hire. Current Iowa Driver's License. PHTLS certification preferred
  • Must have clinical knowledge necessary to competently perform quality patient care duties as defined in job responsibilities and as appropriate for level of certification; Must be able to read, write, and follow written or oral instructions; Must maintain knowledge and skills in all areas within scope of practice; Must demonstrate strong customer service skills display a high degree of empathy tact and kindness toward others have ability to communicate well and work effectively with others and be a team player
