Job description

Job Title: Quality and Environmental Management Systems - Internal Auditor
Report To: Quality Systems Manager
Location: Site
JOB DESCRIPTION: NTN Driveshaft, a world leader in constant velocity technology for the automotive industry, is currently seeking a qualified IATF-16949 & ISO-14001 Internal Auditor for our Columbus, Indiana operations. NTN currently has 1800 employees working in our Columbus operation and customer demand for our product is growing rapidly. NTN Driveshaft manufactures Constant Velocity Joints (CVJs) for all of the major automotive companies. These customers include Honda, Ford, Toyota, GM, Chrysler and most other automotive OEMs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • IATF-16949 Quality Management Systems (QMS) Internal Auditing
  • ISO-14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Internal Auditing
  • CQI-9 Special Process: Heat Treat System Assessments
  • CQI-12 Special Process: Coating System Assessments
  • CQI-15 Special Process: Welding System Assessments
  • Conducts audits of all departments/processes at NDI
  • Audits/interviews management, staff, and personnel at all levels within the company
  • Creates and issues monthly departmental audit schedules - based on an overall three year audit plan
  • Executes Internal Audits per the audit schedules.
  • Takes detailed audit notes such that sufficient objective evidence of process conformance (or non-conformance) is effectively recorded as audit records.
  • Generates monthly audit reports
  • Creates and issues corrective actions (CARs) for any non-conformances.
  • Reviews and judges the Root Cause Analysis and resulting Corrective Action implementation; and the effectiveness of those actions, for all CARs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND ABILITIES:
  • One to three years of relevant automotive QMS/EMS auditing experience is preferred, with an understanding of the ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements, and the automotive process approach for auditing, including risk-based thinking
  • The ability to read, understand and apply the customer-specific Quality Manual requirements, and the NTN procedures and work instructions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to effectively interview auditees and record detailed audit notes, is required.
  • Knowledge of the quality "core tools" and how to apply them (i.e. FMEA, APQP, VDA/AIAG-PPAP, SPC, MSA).
  • Strong computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience in production manufacturing a plus.
  • All applicants will be required to complete a written test during the interview process in order for us to assess their level of critical thinking. Once chosen for this position, a five day Lead Auditor Training course/certification must be completed with an acceptable passing grade achieved (unless this course has already been completed and a certificate is provided)
