and recruitment for interested young adults, walk alongside applicants throughout the screening process, provide individualized wraparound support to admitted Scholars throughout their involvement in our program; and maintaining
accurate documentation. Essentially, The Navigator will function as a mentor, career coach, and case manager for Scholars, ensuring they have access to the information, resources, and connections they need to successfully complete a postsecondary educational program (including apprenticeship) and attain family-wage employment.

  • Support inclusive recruitment and onboarding by planning and facilitating Palmer Pathways orientations and information sessions throughout Pierce County, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service to Scholars, prospective Scholars, employers, apprenticeship partners, and community organizations.
  • Promote Scholar success by fostering a sense of belonging, connecting individuals to internal and external resources, and resolving issues in collaboration with the Palmer Scholars team and partners.
  • Review existing operational systems to prioritize clear workflows to ensure timely rendering of services.
  • Provide navigation and classroom support for the Pathways program, serving as the primary staff contact during program sessions. This includes supporting attendance, engagement, and guest trainer facilitation.

  • Offer backup support for the Palmer Pathways Pre-Apprenticeship program to ensure continuity in Scholar services and program operations.
  • Advise Scholars on academic and career pathways, including apprenticeship, certification, and degree options. Assist with career planning, funding strategies, enrollment processes, and goal setting.
  • Develop and update Individualized Service Strategy plans, case notes, and other documents related to a participant’s file utilizing a trauma informed approach.
  • Build and maintain relationships with postsecondary institutions, union partners, employers, and community organizations to support Scholar persistence and advancement.
  • Lead weekly navigation sessions with Scholar’s one-on-one and in small groups to provide ongoing guidance and support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
