Behavioral Health Allies is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to join our Human Resources team. This position is responsible for fostering a positive, compliant, and engaging workplace by leading employee relations efforts, conducting complex workplace investigations, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing unemployment claims, and partnering with leaders to support organizational success.

What You'll Do

As the Employee Relations Manager, you will serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees while ensuring consistent application of employment laws, company policies, and HR best practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations involving employee complaints, workplace misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, policy violations, and other employee relations matters.
  • Providing coaching and guidance to managers on employee performance, corrective action, conflict resolution, documentation, policy interpretation, and workplace concerns.
  • Serving as the primary HR resource for employee relations questions and helping resolve workplace issues professionally and confidentially.
  • Managing the organization's unemployment claims process, including responding to claims, preparing documentation, representing the organization during unemployment hearings, and tracking claim outcomes.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, EEOC regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Monitoring HR compliance activities, maintaining audit-ready documentation, and supporting regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Managing employee grievance tracking and ensuring timely documentation and follow-up through the organization's case management system.
  • Supporting employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, employee communications, and retention strategies.
  • Partnering with HR leadership to improve HR processes, documentation, compliance tracking, and HRIS effectiveness.
  • Monitoring workforce trends, turnover, employee feedback, and compliance metrics while providing meaningful reports and recommendations to leadership.
  • Supporting pre-employment screening, HR operational processes, and additional HR initiatives as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive Human Resources experience with a strong focus on employee relations and workplace investigations.
  • Experience managing a high volume of complex employee relations cases.
  • Experience handling unemployment claims and representing employers during unemployment hearings.
  • Experience with EEOC compliance, employment law, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience working in healthcare, behavioral health, education, transportation, human services, or another highly regulated environment is strongly preferred.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or comparable HR certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience conducting workplace investigations and preparing comprehensive investigative documentation.
  • Excellent interviewing, conflict resolution, mediation, and employee coaching skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and sound decision-making abilities.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms (Paylocity experience preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate, audit-ready documentation.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and build trust with employees and leaders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.

Starting Pay: Our compensation is competitive within the market. The minimum salary for this position begins at $75,000 annually, with your final offer based on a combination of your education, relevant experience, and overall qualifications
