Georgia Highlands College is a multi-campus, state college member of the University System of Georgia. Job Summary
In support of the Georgia Highland College (GHC) enrollment, retention and graduation objectives, this position directs and manages the design, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of social, educational, and cocurricular programs for students. This role involves planning, implementing, and assessing student engagement programs and activities, promoting a sense of community and belonging, and supporting student success both inside and outside the classroom.
Responsibilities
  • Is responsible for understanding, support, and carrying out the college mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies

  • Conducts research, designs new initiatives, and collaborates with others to ensure program(s) remain viable

  • Develops and executes a variety of student engagement initiatives including events , activities, and services.

  • Assesses effectiveness of all co-curricular, extracurricular and student-facing activities across all GHC instructional sites

  • Collaborates with the faculty and staff including Schools of the college, division chairs, and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) on developing co-curricular activities and integrating student engagement into the broader college experience

  • Develops and delivers professional presentations, publications, and training to the college community to enhance academic advisement

  • Provides guidance and resources to registered student organizations to ensure their success

  • Encourages, supervises, and facilitates new student organizations

  • Coordinates the logistics and facilitates the training of student organizational advisors and student leaders

  • Develops and evaluates methods of publicizing student programs, events, and activities

  • Implements programs to promote student involvement; assesses and analyzes student needs, interests, and events to include in future planning

  • Assists with advisement of student government and acts as liaison between students and administration; selects and trains student representatives for college committees

  • Plans, administers, and monitors organization budgets

  • Develops student leadership skills and encourages student involvement in campus life

  • Works to create an environment that supports student success both academically and personally by fostering connections and building a sense of community

  • Hires, supervises, and trains professional and student staff to support Student Engagement

  • Develops, maintains, and assesses a student communication plan from matriculation to graduation

  • Directs the development and maintenance of the student engagement websites and social media accounts

  • Ma nages budgets related to student engagement initiatives reviewing and approving transactions and ensuring responsible use of resources

  • Assesses the effectiveness of student engagement programs and activities to determine future programming and improvements

  • Directs and manages activities of the Intramurals & Club Sports Program

  • Oversees the GHC Charger Food Pantries including securing food/personal inventory and supervising staff

  • Directs the GHC Charger Orientation Program, including but not limited to scheduling dates, training student staff, planning and implementing logistics, monitoring the ticketing system and overseeing the day-of events

  • Assists the Office of the Dean of Students with investigations and cases as relate to academic Integrity, Code of Conduct and Title IX

  • Participates in College initiatives and events to benefit students and the College

  • Serves as liaison to academic departments as assigned

  • Serves on the Academic Success Leadership team and college committees

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a bachelor's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field

  • Sufficient experience to understand and apply the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one (1) to two (2) years

  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

  • Required to hold a GHC purchasing card which requires a credit check to receive and continue holding a purchasing card

Starting salary: $65,478 annually
