Job description

Employment Status:Full timeShift:Night (United States of America)Facility:1906 Belleview Ave SE - RoanokeRequisition Number:R160575 RN - Trauma ICU (Open) How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:12 bed ICU specializing in the care of trauma patients, and is the alternate unit for neuro patients as well as other surgery patients, including general surgery.
The RN provides professional nursing care to patients across all age groups, supporting patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. This role collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient outcomes.

The RN

  • Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
  • Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents care in electronic medical records.
  • Identifies and addresses patient and family education needs.
  • Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
  • Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise in dynamic and changing care environments.
  • Implements strategies to improve patient outcomes and resource utilization.
  • Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members.
  • Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs.
  • Supports orientation and training of new employees.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.


Experience: None.


Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.


Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.


Other Minimum Qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records. For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.
