Job description

Job Title: EMG Tech Lead

Location: Main Hospital - New Brunswick

Department Name: EEG

Pay Range: $48.07 - $72.11 per hour

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

The EMG Technician Lead is responsible for assisting the EMG physician with performing basic nerve conduction studies. Maintains EMG equipment and test rooms. Assists with ordering supplies and equipment.

Required:

Associate's degree or higher 

Completion of an accredited EMG training program 

Regulatory agency certification (ABEM and/or AAET)

Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) .

Electrodiagnostic Technologist registration and certification 

Minimum five (5) years of experience in the EMG field required, preferably within a hospital setting.

Essential Functions:

Ability to train/ precept new technicians/ physicians in all areas of NCS/ EMG, other neurodiagnostic studies

Development of a new technician training program including, but not limited to, development of policies/ procedures, training manual, orientation guidelines and checklists, competency checklists

Creates departmental policies and procedures. 

Direct oversight/ reporting of EMG techs. 

Assist the department manager with EEG team needs, operational coverage, clinical coverage and all duties/ responsibilities of an EEG tech, pursuant to their own training.

Special projects and tasks at the discretion of the EEG department manager and Director of Neuroscience.

Familiarity with EMG lab specific accreditations, process for application and maintenance. Responsible for lab accreditation and ongoing maintenance.

Responsible, in part, for lab operations, volumes and revenue.  Participate in programmatic growth, new revenue stream development, building referral pathways and relationships.

Assist with all aspects of scheduling EMG patients.

Complete and submit billing information on a daily basis for all studies performed.

Maintain department medical records in a professional and confidential manner.

Maintain EMG equipment and work area. Ensure cleanliness of equipment and test areas after each use.

Perform EMG/ NCS studies proficiently.

Performs and assists with EMG/ NCS testing in collaboration with Neurologist.

Troubleshoot equipment problems and facilitate maintenance and service calls.
