Job description

Who We Are
Wasatch Global Investors is a 100% employee-owned firm exclusively focused on active investment management. We use a collaborative, bottom-up fundamental approach to identify exceptional companies we believe are high-quality and have the potential to grow earnings for long periods of time. Following our early success investing in domestic small cap stocks, Wasatch has evolved thoughtfully and organically over four decades. Today, with $20+ billion in assets under management, and 19 strategies spanning the United States, international, and emerging markets, Wasatch provides comprehensive research of small, micro, and mid cap companies across the globe. Our investment team of 34 investment professionals includes 18 portfolio managers with an average of 22 years of research experience and 15 years at Wasatch. Wasatch's investment process is anchored in our core culture principles: long-term perspective, learning organization, teamwork, ownership, integrity, and gratitude. These principles drive how we conduct our research, analyze and manage investments, work with our portfolio companies, and ultimately, serve our clients. Wasatch strongly believes in a team approach to investment management. All investment decisions are conducted in a highly collaborative team environment, with all team members contributing equally to all aspects of the process. We believe this "multiple eyes" approach allows us to find and invest in high-quality, long-duration growth companies that will deliver superior risk-adjusted returns over the course of many years. For more information, please see https://wasatchglobal.com/about/
The Role
The International Developed Markets team manages five strategies which primarily invest in ex-U.S. small and mid-cap stocks. The team includes three portfolio managers and three analysts who have extensive experience investing in international markets. Given Wasatch's long-term investment horizon, our work is centered around finding great companies with sustainable competitive advantages, long-term earnings growth potential, and exceptional management teams. The analyst will work closely with other team members in analyzing current and potential portfolio companies with a variety of responsibilities including: 1) interviewing company management, their customers, suppliers, and competitors; 2) developing financial projections and valuation analysis; 3) discussing and writing up conclusions and recommendations; 4) running investment screens to source new stock ideas; and 5) international travel.
Preferred Qualifications and Attributes
  • 7-10 years of relevant industry experience (public buyside, sellside, private equity) with a preference for candidates with international professional or life experience
  • Passion for equity investing and for analyzing stocks across a variety of sectors and countries
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to gather, synthesize and think openly about a variety of perspectives and to form an opinion about company fundamentals and potential investment returns
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively gather information and insights and clearly articulate what has been learned and how the team should proceed
  • Strong team skills with the ability to work in a proactive, self-directed manner and the ability to identify how to best contribute to a team (when to lead, when to follow, when to help others)
  • Commitment to excellence and ownership with a demonstrated track record of producing high-quality results across all types of work and tasks; continual cultivation of self-improvement and humility in professional and personal pursuits

Application Materials
• Resume
• One page writing sample which addresses the following questions: 1) why you are interested in international equity investing; 2) why you are interested in Wasatch; 3) three questions that you would like to ask our CEO
This job description is intended only to describe the general nature of the position and does not constitute an all-inclusive list of duties, nor of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.
