HIRING RANGE: $71,386 - $80,309 Annually

POSITION SUMMARY
The Vet Tech Facility Manager partners with the VMT Program Director, Animal Care Manager and the Attending Veterinarian (AV) to maintain programmatic daily operations by ensuring student and animal support through staffing, inventory, equipment and facilities maintenance, and assistance with oversight of animal care. The Vet Tech Facility Manager functions as a CVT in a teaching environment and responds daily to student, faculty and programmatic needs. Will be required to interact with all species of animals.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Recruits, trains, supervises, evaluates, and develops support staff, laboratory assistants, and student workers.
2.Establishes, implements, and documents competency-based training programs to ensure safe, effective, and compliant facility operations.
3.Conducts performance evaluations, provides coaching and corrective action as needed, and participates in disciplinary processes in accordance with college policies and procedures.
4.Develops, manages, and maintains work schedules and duty assignments for support staff and laboratory assistants to ensure adequate staffing levels, operational efficiency, continuity of animal care, and supports instructions activities.
5.Ensure physical facility and equipment maintenance.
6.Manage inventory ordering and budget of all program supplies
7.Manages pharmaceutical inventories, controlled substances, medical supplies, and associated records in compliance with institutional, state, federal, USDA, and DEA requirements; maintains appropriate inventory levels to support uninterrupted animal care and instructional activities.
8.Maintains a safe environment for students, staff, visitors, and animals by enforcing safety protocols, maintaining SDS records and safety equipment, and ensuring emergency preparedness procedures and supplies are operational and accessible.
9.Collaborates with Animal Care Manager, Program Director, and AV to coordinate the procurement, intake, housing, enrichment, medical care, transportation, transfer, adoption, and disposition of animals used in program operations and instructional activities while ensuring compliance with applicable animal welfare and regulatory requirements.
10.Maintains and supervises the cleanliness and order of the Veterinary Medical Technology facility
11.Supports regulatory and accreditation compliance efforts by working collaboratively with the Program Director, Attending Veterinarian, and IACUC Chairperson to maintain required records, implement corrective actions, support inspections and audits, and ensure adherence to institutional, state, and federal animal care and use standards.
12.Participates in departmental planning and continuous quality improvement initiatives by identifying operational efficiencies, recommending process improvements, developing standard operating procedures, and supporting strategic program goals.
13.Serves as a collaborative resource for faculty, staff, students, and external partners by promoting professionalism, effective communication, customer service, and a culture of teamwork.
14.Performs other duties assigned consistent with the responsibilities of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Certified Veterinary Technician licensed in Illinois.
2.Valid Illinois driver's license with an acceptable driving record (for animal transportation, if needed).
3.Knowledge of USDA Animal Welfare Act regulations, OSHA standards, DEA controlled substance management and standards.
4.Maintain CVT licensure by completing CE hours required by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation and renewing license every two years.
5.Graduation from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.
6.Five (5) years of clinical experience.
7.Ability to assist with and perform a wide variety of routine medical, surgical and diagnostic procedures common to the veterinary practice setting.
8.Strong personal computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
9.Attentiveness to detail, excellent organizational skills, initiative, multitasking.
10.Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population.
11.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Management experience in a veterinary hospital, teaching hospital, research facility, or animal care facility.
2.Experience developing training programs and standard operating procedures.
3.Experience managing budgets, purchasing, inventory control, and equipment maintenance.
4.English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
5.Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1.Normal veterinary clinic/classroom physical demands.
2.Ability to move and lift animals, equipment and supplies up to 50lbs.
3.Vision correctible to 20/20.
4.Ability to transport animals between campus and community sites.
5.Ability to travel between campus locations and community events.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1.Duties are performed indoors/outdoors in the usual veterinary clinical environment.
