Come join our dynamic Emergency Management Team to grow your career to the next level! As an Intermediate/ Senior Specialist (Emergency Management), you will play a meaningful role within our Environmental Group. This position gives the successful candidate the unique experience of working in a matrix business performing work with skilled professionals across North America in a collaborative environment with opportunities for specialization and advancement. The role will be based on any of our Ontario offices.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Lead the delivery of Emergency Preparedness (EP) services such as regulatory/ response planning, hazard and risk assessments, training and exercises for environmental response (oil/chemical), Incident Command System (ICS) management.
  • Conduct consequence modelling using a variety of software programs
  • Lead the preparation of technical correspondence, project proposals, technical reports, evaluations and lessons learned reports, and ICS documentation (All ICS forms [EPA, USCG]), and work plans
  • Assist in gap assessment and program review of client emergency management programs
  • Support business development with existing as well as new clients, including assisting with proposal pursuits
  • Lead or support project management activities including cost and budget tracking, scheduling, client communication and liaising, and preparation and implementation of scopes of work
  • Support training and mentoring of junior staff

What you will bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering (such as chemical, mechanical, environmental) or emergency management (with an industry focus)
  • Previous employment experience in consulting/engineering/Industrial Emergency Management role 
  • 5+ years' experience required 
  • Previous leading or supporting exercise experience using the U.S. Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program 
  • Previous employment experience in a similar regulatory/ response planning capacity with experience in some or all the following areas will be considered an asset:   
    • Process Safety Management Plans (CAS or OSHA)
    • Risk Safety Management Plans (RMP)
    • Emergency Response Plans (FRP, COSRP, PHMSA/EPA Contingency plans)
    • Process safety management (Path 2 or PSM)
    • Process hazard analyses (PHA) 
  • Experience in industrial settings, hazardous materials, regulatory compliance, process flow, and/or process safety considered an asset
  • Intermediate knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite programs
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and proficiency
  • Ability to present technical information, both written and orally, in a concise and professional manner to audiences of varying technical abilities and backgrounds
  • Eligible to qualify for a TN Visa to work in United States
  • Positive attitude with very strong interpersonal skills
  • Readiness to travel up to 25% of the time. Ability to respond to call outs during non-routine working hours will be required
  • High degree of personal initiative, great teammate, and capable of working on a wide variety of tasks
  • Must have a valid driver's license and passport.

The salary range for this position is $66.700 to $111.125K. 

The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
