The Security Specialist serves as the first point of contact for residents, guests, vendors, and staff entering Emerald Heights. This role is responsible for providing a welcoming and professional front entrance experience while maintaining campus safety through visitor access control, emergency response coordination, and continuous monitoring of fire, life safety, and security systems.

- Day Shift - 6:00am to 2:00pm
- Swing Shift 2:00pm to 10:00pm
- Night Shift 10:00pm to 6:00am
Primary Responsibilities: - Activate/Deactivate Proxy cards to staff and residents as requested
- Review video and send requestor information, still pictures, or video as requested
- Monitor CCTV cameras, access control systems, alarms, and life safety systems; respond according to policy
- Monitor fire alarm panels, supervisory systems, annunciators, elevators, emergency call systems, and related equipment
- Observe and respond to suspicious activity, unauthorized access attempts, alarms, troubles, and safety concerns
- Coordinate emergency response and provide support for emergency events as necessary
- Issue, verify, and log passes and access credentials for visitors, vendors, and contractors; manage guest sign-in procedures
- Greet and assist residents, visitors, vendors, and contractors in a professional manner
- Answer phones, provide directions, and route inquiries appropriately
- Create a safe and welcoming first impression
- Assist with deliveries, transportation arrivals, and special event traffic flow
- Maintain logs of events, alarms, outages, incidents, and system notifications; complete incident reports accurately and promptly
- Document daily activity logs and shift pass-down notes
- Communicate clearly with residents, families, and team members; maintain professionalism and confidentiality
- Support after-hours communication protocols
- Support drills, emergency preparedness exercises, and evacuation procedures
- Help with project work as requested
- Attends in-service training and education sessions
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience: - High school graduation or GED.
- Minimum six months’ experience in the security field, guest services or related areas.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s license.
- Customer service, hospitality, front desk, or security experience preferred.
- Experience with fire alarms, access control, or security systems preferred.
- Strong in prioritization and multitasking
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Reliable, consistent attendance
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Ability to remain calm and alert under pressure
- Ability to patrol campus and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
