Job description

Do you believe that people are capable of profound healing and that what happened to them doesn’t have to define them? Are you drawn to nervous-system-centered work that meets clients where they are and honors their goals? Do you want the autonomy to build a caseload that fits your life, with the stability and support of a W2 position behind you?

If so, that’s great — because so do we.

About Us

Whole Brain Solutions (WBS) has been serving communities since 2016, specializing in EMDR and complementary approaches to treat stress and trauma-based disorders. We work with clients of all ages and proudly welcome clients from different backgrounds and identities, delivering care through both in-person and telehealth sessions.

We are expanding into Raleigh, NC, and are looking for a fully licensed therapist who is already trained in EMDR and ready to help build something meaningful. At WBS, clinicians are not just employees — they are the heart of this practice. We have built our culture around the belief that when therapists are supported and healthy, they deliver the best patient care. That means leadership is accountable to you as much as you are accountable to us.

We are a trauma-informed practice in every sense — including in how we operate internally. Our Raleigh expansion is a deliberate part of WBS’s organizational growth strategy: deepening our reach into underserved markets while maintaining the clinical quality and culture that define us. The clinician who joins us in Raleigh will play a foundational role in that mission.

What We’re Looking For

You are a fully licensed therapist in North Carolina who has completed EMDR Basic Training through an EMDRIA-approved program. You are curious, creative, and committed to a clinically responsible approach. You view symptoms as clues instead of problems to be fixed. You’re interested in treating the whole person and find genuine joy in your work. Curiosity and creativity within the AIP framework drive your practice. You want to work somewhere where your growth is invested in, your voice matters, and the work is meaningful.
Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
  • Full independent licensure in the state of North Carolina (LCMHC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent) — licensure must remain active, unrestricted, and in good standing at all times
  • Completion of EMDR Basic Training through an EMDRIA-approved program
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and case conceptualization skills
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, nervous-system-centered, evidence-based practice
  • A collaborative spirit — someone who lights up hearing about a colleague’s clinical win as much as achieving one
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, creativity, and professional development
  • Ability to pass a background check in accordance with applicable North Carolina statutes and WBS employment policy
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, mandated reporting obligations under North Carolina law, and applicable ethical codes (NBCC, NASW, AAMFT, or equivalent)

Preferred:

  • EMDR Certification or active progress toward certification through EMDRIA
  • Experience with telehealth delivery and working knowledge of NC telehealth practice regulations
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) platforms and compliance-oriented documentation practices

Responsibilities

This role carries both clinical and organizational responsibilities. We expect every WBS clinician to bring their full professional self to client care while also operating as a steward of the standards and mission that make this practice what it is.

Clinical:

  • Provide EMDR psychotherapy and complementary trauma-informed modalities, honoring client goals regardless of complexity
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments, differential diagnoses, and develop individualized, AIP-informed treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in the EHR system — including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries — in accordance with WBS standards, payer requirements, and applicable licensing board rules
  • Manage client communication, scheduling, and payment collection in collaboration with administrative support staff
  • Participate in regular supervision, peer consultation, and team meetings
  • Collaborate with colleagues and outside professionals (e.g., prescribers, schools, PCPs) in service of coordinated client care
  • Stay current on EMDR, nervous system research, and trauma-informed best practices through continuing education

Compliance & Professional Standards:

  • Uphold all applicable ethical guidelines, including those of your licensing board and EMDRIA, at all times
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and WBS privacy and confidentiality policies; safeguard protected health information (PHI) in all forms — electronic, verbal, and written
  • Fulfill all mandatory reporting obligations under North Carolina General Statutes, including those related to child abuse, elder abuse, and duty to warn/protect
  • Complete required continuing education hours to maintain licensure and meet payer credentialing standards
  • Participate in payer credentialing and re-credentialing processes as directed, supporting the practice’s ability to maintain and expand in-network access
  • Maintain current malpractice/professional liability insurance at levels required by WBS policy
  • Adhere to WBS’s telehealth compliance standards and applicable North Carolina rules governing remote service delivery

Organizational Contribution:

  • Contribute to building the Raleigh office as a foundational member of the team — including participating in culture-setting, intake capacity planning, and community presence
  • Support WBS’s quality assurance goals by maintaining caseload targets, documentation timeliness standards, and client outcome tracking as defined by leadership
  • Participate in periodic performance reviews aligned to both clinical quality indicators and organizational objectives

A Note on How We Work

We use a session-split model, which means you have real autonomy over how you build and manage your schedule without giving up the stability, benefits, and support of a W2 position. We think that’s a meaningful difference, and we built it intentionally. You shouldn’t have to choose between flexibility and security.

W2 classification means WBS withholds applicable federal and state taxes, provides workers’ compensation coverage, and assumes employer obligations under applicable labor law. It also means you are covered under WBS’s organizational malpractice policy and subject to WBS’s internal compliance program.

What We Offer

  • W2 employment with a session-split model for scheduling autonomy
  • Competitive compensation package with bonus potential
  • Retirement matching program
  • Continuing education and wellness fund to support your holistic growth — professionally and personally
  • Support toward EMDR Certification and Consultant status — we invest in your path, not just your productivity
  • Regular clinical supervision and peer consultation
  • Billing and administrative support so you can focus on the clinical work
  • We supply clients; you are NOT responsible for advertising for yourself
  • A warm, collaborative team that genuinely celebrates each other’s successes
  • Leadership that is open to feedback and committed to bidirectional accountability
