As an EMC Design Engineer on Meta's Wearables Product Team, you will work directly with the Wearables design team to influence the design of Meta's wearables prototypes and future line of consumer products. In this position, you will focus on system level EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), EMI (Electromagnetic Interference), ESD (Electrostatic Discharge),and any other electromagnetics-related design and validation activities. Your responsibilities will span across simulation, automation development, bring-up, validation and testing, ensuring that simulation results correlate with real-world performance and driving continuous improvements in EMC design quality throughout all phases of product development. Your expertise will help ensure Meta's wearables meet the highest standards for electromagnetic performance from concept to launch.
Responsibilities
Lead EMC grounding and shielding design, collaborating with different engineering teams to balance system/product constraints with the various compliance standards
• Provide design specifications and guidelines with clear risk tradeoffs to our cross functional partners
• Explore various design elements including different sensors, modules, wireless charging, battery, SMPS/LDO, Integrated circuits, antennas, memories, low/high speed buses, cables, components, flexible and rigid PCBs, their physics of operation, and impacts on system performance
• Develop simulation methodology and flow for complicated system-level product design needs, from DC to EM frequency band for EM and Multiphysics effects
• Develop EMC validation methodology and detailed engineering test plans, validate in lab to correlate simulation results and improve design flow
• Use simulation and lab data to support design troubleshooting and propose corrective actions, drive failure analysis, root cause efforts, and design of experiments to resolve problems
• Prioritize and manage contributions across concurrent projects based on impact, deadlines, and stakeholder needs
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8+ years of experience in EM simulation and measurement areas
• Possess EM fundamentals, grounding and shielding theory
• Familiarity with PCB and flex design and manufacture process
• Experience delivering a product into manufacturing
Preferred Qualifications
• System knowledge experience, such as PD structural and thermal solution, power regulator design and EMI control, RF desense, magnetics shielding, noise and vibration
• 10+ years of experience in EM simulation and measurement areas
• Experienced in using different instruments, such as near field EM scanner, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, oscilloscope, signal generator, field probes, ESD gun/simulator and other related test equipment
• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
About Meta
Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. When Facebook launched in 2004, it changed the way people connect. Apps like Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp further empowered billions around the world. Now, Meta is moving beyond 2D screens toward immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality to help build the next evolution in social technology. People who choose to build their careers by building with us at Meta help shape a future that will take us beyond what digital connection makes possible today-beyond the constraints of screens, the limits of distance, and even the rules of physics.
