Job description

itD is seeking an EMC Design and Test Engineer to support the design, validation, and compliance of electronic products by leading electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, debugging, and certification efforts. This role contributes to successful product development and market readiness by ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in EMC design and RF testing and a proven track record of resolving complex EMC issues and supporting successful product certifications.
Location: 100% Onsite in San Jose, CA
Pay Rate: $24 - $24.23 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Lead EMC and RF testing activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Analyze test results and troubleshoot EMC-related issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and execute EMC validation plans to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to incorporate EMC design best practices into hardware development.
  • Support product certification efforts by coordinating with external test laboratories and certification organizations.
  • Review and provide guidance on PCB layouts, grounding, shielding, filtering, and signal integrity techniques to minimize emissions and susceptibility issues.
  • Document test procedures, results, compliance findings, and engineering recommendations for stakeholders and project teams.
Internal Responsibilities:
  • Attend regular internal practice community meetings.
  • Collaborate with your itD practice team on industry thought leadership.
  • Complete client case studies and learning material (blogs, media material).
  • Build out material to contribute to the Digital Transformation practice.
  • Attend internal itD networking events (in person and virtual).
  • Work with leadership on career fast-track opportunities.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in EMC design and RF testing with strong EMC debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with EMC/RF test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and signal generators.
  • Strong understanding of EMC testing methodologies, analysis techniques, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams to resolve complex electromagnetic compatibility issues.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience with regulatory and industry compliance standards, including FCC Part 15, CISPR 32, IEC 61000 series, PTCRB, GCF, EN 50155, and/or ECE R10.
  • Knowledge of EMC-focused hardware design practices, including PCB layout, grounding, shielding, filtering, and signal integrity techniques.
  • Experience supporting product certification activities and coordinating with external test labs and certification bodies.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering environments to achieve global market approvals.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required.
