Job description

Job Title: Embryologist

Reports to: Senior Embryologist

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: CNY Fertility is a renowned fertility center offering advanced treatments like IVF, IUI, and egg freezing. With a patient-centered approach and cutting-edge technology, we support individuals and couples on their journey to parenthood. As an Embryologist you will be proficient in all areas of the laboratory as well as lead a team of embryologists.


Required Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  

  1. Daily quality control, media preparation and dish preparation

  2. Microscope and pipettor use

  3. Use of other lab equipment to complete procedures: balance, pH meter, CO2 monitor, labeler, etc.

  4. Oocyte retrieval and denuding of oocytes

  5. Embryo cryopreservation and warming

  6. Fertilization checks and embryo transfers

  7. ICSI and conventional fertilization techniques

  8. Use EMR to schedule procedures, complete tasks, and navigate patient charts

  9. Understand cryopreservation and storage of specimens

  10. Assist in cleaning and stocking the laboratory

  11. Perform PESA/TESE sperm retrievals and search


Qualifications: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

Education/Experience: 

Bachelors degree in a chemical, biological, clinical, medical or reproductive laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution required. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Embryology lab. 
 

Language Ability: 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.   Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 

Math Ability: 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.   Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

Reasoning Ability:  

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities: 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

  • Must be able to lift 25lbs. 

  • Excellent computer literacy. 

  • Adequate vision or corrective lenes for sample identification. 

  • Ability to multitask in fast paced environments.
