Your Impact
As an Electrical Engineer within the Transformers Value Stream, you will aid in driving new technology initiatives and performing Qualitrol's NPD and Sustaining initiatives. The position requires a highly motivated, team oriented professional with the right mix of experience and skills. They will work on multiple projects using internal and external resources to deliver quality products that meet our customers' needs. Involved in all facets of development starting from requirements specification, validation, verification, and deployment. Responsible for product quality and reliability along with feature completion. This individual will embody Ralliant's principles of leading by example, communicating openly, enabling, and inspiring extraordinary teams, excelling with partners, acting conclusively with high integrity, and collaborating efficiently to delight customers.
In this role, you will use SAFe Agile development Methods and the Scrum Framework to deliver critical, customer facing, monitoring systems, sensors and solutions for Utilities and Industrial customers. You will be expected to possess a thorough understanding of electrical design principles of analog and digital circuits.
Here's where you'll demonstrate your proficiencies:
  • Support guidance into the entire product implementation cycle including requirements analysis, high level and detailed design (including PCBA layout), implementation, testing, integration, documentation, compliance certification and introduction to production in coordination with architecture team.
  • Work with a multi-functional team that includes hardware architecture, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, logistics engineering teams, product and program management and other groups, as needed.
  • Support advanced technology initiatives to develop next generation sensors and sensing platforms and improvements in products sustaining activities.

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Hardware Engineer to join our dynamic R&D team. This role is pivotal in driving the development of next-generation sensing and monitoring solutions for industrial and utility applications. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in analog/digital circuit design, embedded systems, and communication protocols, with a passion for developing robust, field-ready hardware platforms.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • 2+ years of experience in hardware design for embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in analog and digital circuit design, including low-noise signal paths and power management.
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus RTU/TCP, LoRa, RS-485) with experience in integration into new and existing hardware platforms.
  • Familiarity with sensor integration, including temperature, humidity, pressure, and optical sensors.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools, Altium Designer preferred.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum framework.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of fluid dynamics, thermal dynamics, computational fluid simulation using Ansys, Solid Works or similar would be an advantage.
  • Experience with firmware-hardware co-design and debugging embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of designing for compliance (EMC, safety), compliance testing, and product certification processes.
  • Experience working with global manufacturing partners and contract manufacturers.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
