This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future, shared solutions and standards, simplicity and lower costs, and manufacturable design.

As a Software Engineer, you'll work at the thrilling intersection of cutting-edge embedded systems and advanced AI technology-developing the platform software that makes spaceflight safer, smarter, and more reliable.

Responsibilities:
  • Build Tomorrow's Avionics:Develop high-performance platform software including device drivers, middleware, and applications for next-generation aerospace systems
  • Own the Full Lifecycle:Design, develop, test, and optimize embedded solutions across multiple hardware platforms, from requirements through deployment
  • Solve Complex Problems:Collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to architect solutions that meet demanding real-time, safety-critical requirements
  • Innovate at Scale:Drive performance optimization and create scalable, portable software architectures for a great vehicle portfolio
  • Lead Through Mentorship:Elevate the team through comprehensive code reviews, knowledge sharing, and collaborative feedback

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of professional embedded software development
  • Expert-level proficiency in C/C++
  • Deep hands-on experience with real-time systems, multitasking, and embedded synchronization patterns
  • Proven expertise in device drivers, middleware (I/O, BIT), hardware abstraction layers, and low-level interfaces
  • Working knowledge of multiple hardware architectures (ARM, x86) and embedded environments (RTOS, Linux)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and workflows (GitLab, Jira, Confluence, or similar)
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and proven track record as a collaborative teammate
  • Excellent communication skills and passion for team culture

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NASA Core Flight Software (CFE) framework experience
  • Proficiency with communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN) and networking standards (TCP/IP, UDP, MQTT)

CO applicants is $150,931.00 - $211,303.05 WA applicants is $164,652.00 - $230,512.80

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
