You will be a member of the Collins Product Cybersecurity Organization (PCO) supporting strategic defense and protected communication systems programs. We are a growing business developing new products in an aggressive and competitive market. The new designs are exciting and technically challenging.

The Product Cybersecurity Engineering DoD East Massachusetts team is hiring a Senior Principal Embedded Systems Security Engineer to support programs for our US military, keeping the world safe from foreign threats. Our goal is to align each new hire with a position that best suits their skills and allows for career growth. The ideal candidate will be skilled in requirement allocation and decomposition, analyzing system architectures, designing security features and principles, assessing security vulnerabilities (scanning), and formal cybersecurity test and evaluation (CT&E). The candidate will report to the Senior Manager of Cybersecurity Engineering and work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams on the program they support.

This role will be worked onsite in Marlborough, MA.  Relocation assistance is available. Requires an active and transferrable SECRET clearance.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with customers and internal stakeholders to define cybersecurity requirement decomposition, allocation, implementation, and verification utilizing system engineering practices; providing guidance and direction related to security technologies.

  • Define cybersecurity requirements, design, and architecture artifacts; collaborating with program and engineering disciplines and ensuring cybersecurity solution alternatives.

  • Lead system design discussions and provide cybersecurity engineering input.

  • Lead and collaborate with systems engineers and developers to integrate cybersecurity considerations into system design.

  • Lead cybersecurity focused System Verification and Validation including writing test plans and procedures, performing test conduct, writing and conducting analyses, and providing remediation recommendations.

  • Own and generate cybersecurity related documentation (i.e., e.g.; Risk Management Framework System Security Plan, Risk Assessment Report, Plan of Actions and Milestones).

  • Lead as part of a team of System Security Engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

  • Champion awareness of evolving security threats and industry best practices; becoming a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and valued member of our System Security Engineering team

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum10  years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience

  • ACTIVE and transferable SECRET U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for security clearances. 

  • Experience in (system) requirement definition, allocation, and decomposition; preferably with embedded systems.

  • Experience in generating Verification Items (VIs) and determining formal verification methods (inspection, analysis, demonstration, and/or test) for allocated requirements.

  • Experience with cybersecurity, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and embedded cryptography

  • Direct experience with requirement management tools (e.g.; DOORS, JIRA, CONFLUENCE); including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g.; JAMA, CAMEO).

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Active and transferable TOP SECRET clearance.

  • Familiarity with satellite systems, communication systems, and evolving security technologies; with a strong desire to develop and enhance this knowledge.

  • Direct experience in cybersecurity leadership, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and embedded cryptography.

  • Direct experience with National Security Agency (NSA) cryptographic certification.

  • Direct experience with Program Protection Plan (PPP) and Program Protection Implementation Plan (PPIP) required by DoDI 5000.2 and DoDI 5200.39.

  • Direct experience as an Agile Scrum Master and/or Product Owner.

  • Direct experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) and/or Basis of Estimate (BOE) author.

  • RTX Earned Value and Basis of Estimate Certifications; or the willingness to obtain these within six (6) months of start.

  • Cybersecurity-related certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security Plus, etc.).

  • Self-starter requiring limited direction and minimal supervision.
