Overview

Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is looking for a an Electrical Engineer to be responsible for the design, development, and sustainment of advanced electronic systems that integrate smart antennas (LTE, 5G, ISM, GNSS, Wi-Fi), automotive Ethernet, radar, lidar, and camera interfaces. You will also contribute to the development of ruggedized compute platforms capable of running AI algorithms for environmental awareness and vehicle control in extreme conditions.

The Location:Hexagon is a global company with offices around the world. This position can be located in Calgary, AB.   

Responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineer, responsibilities include: 

  • System Design & Architecture
  • Design high-speed, high-reliability PCBs for sensor fusion and compute platforms.
  • Integrate wireless communication modules (LTE, 5G, ISM, GNSS, Wi-Fi) and automotive Ethernet PHYs.
  • Architect power distribution and thermal management strategies for compute-heavy systems.
  • Sensor & Interface Integration
  • Interface with radar, lidar, and camera modules using automotive-grade protocols (e.g., GMSL, FPD-Link, CAN, Ethernet).
  • Ensure signal integrity and EMI/EMC compliance in mixed-signal environments.
  • Ruggedization & Compliance
  • Design for IP67 ingress protection, extended temperature ranges (-40C to +85C), and high-vibration environments.
  • Support environmental and regulatory testing (e.g., ISO 16750, CISPR 25, AEC-Q100).
  • Sustaining & Validation
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for field issues.
  • Develop and execute validation plans including HIL testing, thermal cycling, and vibration testing.
  • Work closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers from concept through production.
  • Support manufacturing and test engineering with DFM/DFT practices.
Qualifications

Must-Have:  

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded hardware design, preferably in automotive or rugged environments.
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer or equivalent ECAD tools.
  • Experience with RF design, high-speed digital design, and power electronics.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML hardware accelerators (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, TI Jacinto) is a plus.
