Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Emerson Test & Measurement (T&M) Portfolio Business Unit is seeking an Application Engineering Intern to support customer-focused technical initiatives, product demonstrations, and Proofs of Concept using NI hardware and software platforms. This hands-on engineering internship combines technical problem-solving, customer engagement, and solution development. In this role, you will work closely with Application Engineers, Sales teams, Product Marketing, and R&D organizations to help customers solve complex engineering challenges. You will gain exposure to industries such as Life Sciences, Semiconductor, Energy, Industrial Equipment, and Academia while developing practical experience with test, measurement, automation, FPGA, and data acquisition technologies.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Assist in designing, building, and optimizing customer-facing demonstrations and Proofs of Concept that showcase Emerson Test & Measurement solutions.
  • Support Application Engineers in evaluating customer requirements and identifying appropriate hardware and software solutions.
  • Develop and enhance demonstration systems using NI software and hardware platforms.
  • Research emerging technologies, customer applications, and industry trends to support new business opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within demonstrations, Proofs of Concept, and application examples.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and Engineering teams on customer opportunities and technical initiatives.
  • Participate in customer meetings, product demonstrations, technical workshops, and training activities.
  • Document solutions, architectures, findings, and best practices to support future customer engagements and internal knowledge sharing.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, function generators, power supplies, or data acquisition hardware
  • Familiarity with one or more programming environments such as LabVIEW, Python, C, C++, or C#.
  • Basic understanding of engineering measurement systems and instrumentation.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative team environments.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Knowledge of software architecture, design principles, or automated test systems.
  • Exposure to one or more technical areas such as Data Acquisition and Instrument Control, FPGA-based systems, Embedded Systems, Automation and Control, Power Electronics, Mixed Signal Measurements, Wireless and RF Technologies, Machine Learning, or Data Analytics.
