Job description

Job Overview:
We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer I to join our engineering team and contribute to the development of embedded software for our brewers. This is an entry-level role designed for early-career engineers who are eager to build real-world products, grow their technical skills, and learn from experienced engineers in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Embedded Software Development: Design, develop, test, debug, and enhance embedded software for brewer systems, including implementing new features, modifying algorithms, and supporting firmware integration and system bring-up.
  • Software Quality & Reliability: Perform software verification, validation, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and documentation activities to ensure high-quality, reliable software solutions.
  • Engineering Process & Collaboration: Apply established software development processes, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust products.
  • Continuous Improvement & Automation: Leverage Python and other tools for basic automation, testing, and data collection while continuously learning new technologies, tools, and development methodologies.

Total Rewards:
  • Salary Range: $62,500 - $103,000
  • Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience (internships or co-op experience included)
  • Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded software
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Strong learning mindset and good communication skills

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with FreeRTOS or embedded Linux, and low-level peripheral driver integration (I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO)
  • Experience with MCU platforms (e.g. STM32, NXP, ESP32, etc.)
  • Ability to use lab tools (e.g. oscilloscope, logic analyzer) for debugging
  • Experience with consumer electronics or appliance software development
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum) and tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
