Applications Engineer – Electronics / Embedded Support
Location: Elgin, IL 60124
Hire Type: Direct Hire / Full-Time

We are partnering with a growing electronics manufacturer seeking an Applications Engineer with strong hands-on electronics troubleshooting experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with customers, diagnosing hardware issues, and supporting embedded/display-based products in a technical, customer-facing environment. The hiring team is specifically looking for candidates with experience troubleshooting electronic assemblies to the component level and the ability to read schematics and diagnose hardware failures.

Responsibilities:
  • Support customers with technical troubleshooting, product integration, and application support
  • Diagnose and resolve electronic hardware issues down to the component level
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to identify root cause failures
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to support product improvements and testing
  • Assist with embedded hardware and firmware troubleshooting for display and electronic products
  • Support RMA evaluations, testing, and repair activities
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, application notes, and test procedures
  • Build and support demo units, prototypes, and test fixtures as needed
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related technical field preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in electronics, embedded systems, or applications engineering
  • Strong hands-on electronics troubleshooting experience required
  • Ability to troubleshoot PCB assemblies and electronic systems to the component level
  • Experience reading and interpreting electronic schematics required
  • Strong communication skills and ability to support customers in a technical environment
