Job description

The Engineer at the Embassy Suites within the Cavalier Resort plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and overall guest experience of the property. This position ensures that all building systems, equipment, and guest‐facing areas operate at peak performance. The ideal candidate is a hands‐on problem solver with strong technical skills, a commitment to hospitality, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Facility Maintenance — Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life‐safety systems to ensure optimal operation.
  • Guest Service Support — Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and maintenance issues, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum satisfaction.
  • Equipment Repair — Diagnose and repair equipment such as pumps, motors, kitchen appliances, lighting systems, and building controls.
  • Safety Compliance — Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards, fire codes, and resort safety protocols.
  • Preventative Programs — Participate in scheduled preventative maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
  • Resort Grounds Support — Assist with upkeep of exterior areas, including lighting, walkways, signage, and seasonal needs.
  • Team Collaboration — Work closely with the Director of Engineering and fellow engineers to support resort‐wide initiatives and special projects.
  • Emergency Response — Respond to urgent maintenance situations, alarms, and system failures with calm, efficient action.


Qualifications

  • Technical Experience — 1–3 years of engineering, maintenance, or facilities experience; hotel or resort experience preferred.
  • Mechanical Aptitude — Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Certifications — EPA Universal, HVAC certification, or trade licenses are a plus.
  • Physical Requirements — Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Problem‐Solving Skills — Strong troubleshooting ability and attention to detail.
  • Customer‐Focused Mindset — Professional communication and a service‐oriented approach.
