Job description

Embassy Suites Los Angeles International Airport South is currently hiring an enthusiastic Breakfast Attendant with cooking experience, eager to serve our guests. This roll is responsible for stocking food and service ware for breakfast buffets, clearing tables during the complimentary breakfast period, and stepping in as a breakfast cook when needed, in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and to maximize profitability.

What will I be doing?

As a Breakfast Attendant/Cook, you would be responsible for stocking food and service ware for breakfast buffets for cleaning tables during the complimentary breakfast period to ensure guest satisfaction, and stepping in as a breakfast cook when needed. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Prepare foods such as cut fruit, coffee, juices, cereals, breads, etc.; replenish food on cold lines and buffets as needed and inspect display tables:
  • Observe and ask guests about their needs and levels of satisfaction with the food or service; describe and/or answer questions for guests about menu items, the buffet, daily specials, etc.; talk with guests in order to create a friendly atmosphere and respond to their question about attractions or other information in the area.
  • Stock coffee, juice, milk machines, dry items, china, glass, silver, etc.; set out chafing dishes, steam tables, heat lamps, signs and easels, flowers, newspaper, and self-serve utensils. 
  • Bus, clear and clean tables as they become available; wash utensils, china, etc.; clean up spills; remove trash; replenish guest tables and self-service stations as needed. 
  • Clean work areas and floors (sweep, mop or vacuum) for appearance and safety
  • Perform additional task to include returning reusable foods to storage, cleaning and draining all machines and equipment, and assisting the Comp Breakfast Cooks.
  • Make supply list for next day and complete inventory reports. 
  • Follow hotel standards for safety and security
  • Food Handler Certification is required

Pay Range: The starting hourly wage is $18.00 per hour and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.

  • Knowledge of basic food preparation/grilling techniques and of procedures with prevent food borne illnesses.
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
