Job description

The University of Iowa Office of Admissions is hiring a dedicated Communications Coordinator, Email Marketing! (100% appointment)

Are you a creative communicator who loves blending strategy, storytelling, and data? This role puts you at the heart of how we connect with future Hawkeyes.

In this position, you'll design and deliver targeted email campaigns using our CRM system, MAUI, and our bulk email platform, Dispatch, ensuring the right message reaches the right audience at the right time. From crafting compelling content to refining audience segmentation, your work will directly shape how prospective students experience Iowa.

You will also have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and improve existing segmented email campaigns to best serve the current prospective student audience in coordination with the Assistant Director.

  • Assist with staff campus visit programs, as needed.

  • Review and edit print materials for recruiting.

  • Develop methods for measuring impact and tracking analytics of communication, marketing and social campaigns, and report outcomes accordingly.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing a comparable level of expertise.

  • Minimum of 6 months working in communications, marketing, or related field, or multiple related internships for a recent college graduate.

Competencies Required:

  • Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies:

    • effective written and oral communications

    • writing and editing strategic, clear, creative and clean copy

    • organizational communications including writing copy for email, web, or direct mail marketing campaigns

    • bulk email software/services; ability to navigate and troubleshoot

    • relationship and team management including experience working within one or more creative team(s)

Desirable Qualifications:

  • experience in higher education student recruitment

  • experience with media creation, video, audio, graphics, photography, design

  • experience with digital advertising, tracking and analytics

  • experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, building, tracking, and segmenting populations

  • experience creating targeted campaigns using bulk email systems

  • basic familiarity with relational database concepts

  • basic familiarity with HTML

  • experience working with Google Analytics
