Position Summary
As the Manager, Email & SMS Marketing, you will own the strategy, execution, and performance of Bluemercury's lifecycle marketing channels. This role is responsible for driving customer acquisition, engagement, and retention through best-in-class email and SMS programs.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Performance Marketing, you will lead a small but high-impact team, oversee day-to-day campaign execution, and deliver deep performance insights to inform business decisions. This role is highly cross-functional, partnering closely with Marketing, Merchandising, Loyalty, Digital, Creative, Stores, and Vendor Marketing.
Key Responsibilities
Lifecycle Strategy & Execution

  • Own and evolve the email and SMS strategy, including campaign planning, automation, segmentation, and personalization
  • Lead the development and management of the lifecycle marketing calendar, ensuring alignment with brand and business priorities
  • Oversee end-to-end campaign execution across promotional and triggered programs, from briefing through deployment
  • Develop and scale acquisition strategies to grow the email and SMS subscriber base
  • Partner cross-functionally to translate business objectives into high-performing lifecycle campaigns

Performance Analysis & Reporting

  • Own weekly, monthly, and seasonal reporting, delivering clear, actionable insights to senior leadership
  • Conduct in-depth performance analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for optimization across email and SMS
  • Forecast channel performance and contribute to broader digital revenue planning in partnership with channel owners
  • Lead testing roadmap (A/B testing, segmentation, cadence, creative) to continuously improve engagement and conversion

Team Leadership & Project Management

  • Manage and develop a team of two (Senior Assistant and Assistant), ensuring strong execution, prioritization, and professional growth
  • Lead project management across all lifecycle initiatives, maintaining timelines, cross-functional alignment, and high-quality output
  • Serve as the central point of coordination across internal stakeholders and external partners

Platform & Vendor Ownership

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Attentive, overseeing both email and SMS execution and optimization
  • Manage external vendors and partners, continuously identifying opportunities to enhance capabilities and customer experience
  • Maintain best practices across deliverability, compliance, and operational efficiency

Qualifications

  • 4-6+ years of experience in email and/or lifecycle marketing in retail or e-commerce
    Proven experience managing direct reports and leading high-performing teams
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Deep analytical expertise with a track record of delivering detailed performance analysis and executive-level reporting
  • Hands-on experience with lifecycle marketing platforms (Attentive strongly preferred)
  • Experience with segmentation, personalization, and automation strategies
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders
