What does an Email CRM Manager do?

An Email CRM Manager is responsible for developing and executing email marketing strategies that engage customers and drive business goals. They manage customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, segment audiences, create targeted email campaigns, and analyze performance metrics to optimize results. Their role often includes collaborating with other marketing teams, ensuring compliance with email regulations, and continually testing new strategies to improve open and conversion rates.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Email CRM Manager?

To thrive as an Email CRM Manager, you need expertise in email marketing strategy, customer segmentation, and data analysis, often supported by a degree in marketing or a related field. Familiarity with CRM platforms (like Salesforce or HubSpot), email automation tools (such as Mailchimp or Marketo), and analytics systems is typically required. Strong project management, creativity, and communication skills help you craft engaging campaigns and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. These abilities are critical for driving customer retention, personalizing communications, and maximizing ROI on email marketing initiatives.

What are some common challenges Email CRM Managers face when executing multi-channel campaigns?

Email CRM Managers often encounter challenges such as maintaining consistent messaging across multiple channels (email, SMS, in-app, etc.), segmenting audiences for personalized campaigns, and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations. Balancing automation with human touch and optimizing send times for different segments can also be complex. • Maintain campaign timelines and proactively manage milestones to ensure creative assets, copy, approvals, and other inputs are delivered on schedule.
  • Build and launch email campaigns, flows, and automations within our ESP, Klaviyo.
  • Build and launch SMS campaigns, flows, and automations within Attentive.
  • Upload and organize campaign assets, including images, copy, links, dynamic content, and personalization elements.
  • Execute audience segmentation and A/B testing across email and SMS.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager, Loyalty & Retention to maintain and execute the monthly CRM campaign calendar.
  • Manage list hygiene, suppression logic, and audience requirements.
  • Conduct thorough pre-send QA across devices, email clients, and platforms, including link validation, rendering, personalization, dynamic content, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor campaign performance and contribute to reporting and analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, creative, and other stakeholders to ensure campaigns are delivered accurately, consistently, and on time.
What You'll Bring
  • 2+ years of experience managing email and/or SMS campaigns from briefing through execution.
  • Hands-on experience building and managing:
    • Email campaigns, flows, segments, templates, and A/B tests.
    • SMS campaigns, flows, segments, templates, and A/B tests.
  • Experience with Klaviyo and/or Attentive preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy and quality control.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines simultaneously.
  • A data-driven mindset and comfort working with campaign reporting and performance metrics.
  • Experience working with e-commerce or DTC brands.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of campaign execution in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in art, home décor, luxury retail, or other premium consumer brands.
  • Familiarity with Tableau or similar BI/reporting tools.
  • Understanding of lifecycle marketing and retention strategy.
  • Experience with dynamic content and personalization.
  • Basic HTML/CSS skills.
  • Experience working with both email and SMS as part of an integrated CRM/lifecycle program
