Job description

Director of Email Marketing
Location: Ft. Lauderdale, FLA
Department: Marketing
Reports To: CMO
Position Overview
Blue Compass RV is seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Director of Email Marketing to lead the strategy, execution, and optimization of our email and lifecycle marketing programs. This role will own the development of customer journeys, automated triggers, and campaign deployment for a large, multi-location RV dealer group.
The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on experience with marketing technology, data infrastructure, and performance optimization. You will collaborate closely with internal marketing, IT teams, and external agency partners to continuously refine and scale a best-in-class email program.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Lifecycle Development
  • Grow and enrich customer database to maximize deliverability, engagement and conversion.
  • Design, implement and refine, end-to-end customer journeys across the lifecycle, including lead nurture, purchase, post purchase, and re-engagement
  • Build and optimize automated trigger-based campaigns (behavioral, transactional, and event-driven across a variety of business lines)
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive email marketing roadmap aligned with business goals
  • Establish and maintain visual reporting on email/campaign health aligned to broader marketing goals/targets for the email channel.

Campaign Execution & Calendar Management
  • Own the email deployment calendar across multiple locations and business units
  • Coordinate campaign planning, segmentation, and scheduling to ensure timely and accurate execution
  • Partner with corporate team, regional leaders, and store operators to align messaging and promotions
  • Deep understanding of Sales CRM process to ensure messaging is harmonized across platforms

Testing & Optimization
  • Lead A/B and multivariate testing strategies to improve engagement, lead conversion, and revenue
  • Establish testing frameworks and continuously iterate based on performance insights
  • Analyze campaign results and provide actionable recommendations

Data, Analytics & Technology
  • Leverage BI tools and reporting frameworks to track KPIs and measure campaign effectiveness
  • Work with customer data platforms and data pipelines (e.g., Databricks, RudderStack) to ensure data accuracy and usability
  • Define and manage tagging strategies to support segmentation, personalization, and reporting
  • Maintain deep expertise in ESP platforms, particularly Braze

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with IT and data engineering teams to support integrations, data flows, and system enhancements
  • Manage relationships with external agencies and vendors to support campaign execution and innovation
  • Collaborate with internal marketing teams to align email with broader digital and brand strategies

Performance & Governance
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for email marketing success
  • Ensure compliance with email regulations and best practices (CAN-SPAM, GDPR where applicable)
  • Continuously improve processes, workflows, and operational efficiency

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in email marketing, lifecycle marketing, or CRM marketing
  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-segment email programs at scale
  • Deep expertise with Braze or similar enterprise ESP platforms
  • Strong technical background in data systems, including experience with tools such as Databricks, RudderStack, or similar CDPs/data warehouses
  • Advanced knowledge of tagging, segmentation, and personalization strategies
  • Demonstrated experience with A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, and performance optimization
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Experience working with BI/reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical (IT/data) and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience managing or working closely with external agencies

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in multi-location retail, automotive, marine, or RV industries
  • Familiarity with SMS, push notifications, and omnichannel lifecycle marketing
