GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, English Language Learner Teacher, also known as the ELL Teacher, serves as a specialist for students who are learning English as a second language. The ELL teacher works in a program designed to provide direct English Language Development instruction in small group and individual student settings. In addition to this specific individualized instruction, the ELL teacher may assist general education classroom teachers with selection of appropriate curricula and the development of appropriate strategies to meet the unique needs of English Language Learners.

The ELL teacher will follow the regulations associated ELD standards and reporting requirements that pertain to Title III. The ELL teacher works under the supervision of the principal. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Note: The listed duties are illustrative only and are not intended to describe each and every function which may be performed in the job class.

Provide language instruction to English Learners in an inclusive setting using a variety of instructional strategies. Advocate for the needs of ELL with teachers and leaders. In conjunction with the ELL Coordinator, administer the WAPT, WIDA SCREENER and WIDA ACCESS

Support the ELL coordinator with professional development, when necessary. Be a resource for colleagues specifically in regards to the needs of ELL students Ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines for ELL students (IDEA, LAU, ESSA). Keep records of language instruction and content instruction for each ELL student.

Monitor student language progress. Build relationships within school community e.g. parents, guardians, community stakeholders Collaborate with teachers to modify and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of all ELL students

Other related duties as assigned by the ELL Coordinator and building principals. Experience and Skills: An ideal candidate for a Tindley Accelerated School teaching position will possess: *Passionate and joyful commitment to fulfilling our mission *Demonstrated success teaching low-income students in an urban setting KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Competency in the areas of content knowledge, content pedagogy, general teaching knowledge, and knowledge of students; willingness to learn new skills and to enhance instructional skills. Ability to access information and resources, create and critically investigate multiple instructional and curricular strategies, and make decisions that effectively address a variety of student learning styles.

Ability to assess the strengths, needs, interests, and aspirations of scholars; willingness to hold high expectations for scholar's academic performance and behavior. Ability to set achievable instructional goals, monitor and evaluate scholar progress. Ability to be resourceful in responding to the changing needs of scholars and the community.

Ability to listen, speak, write, read, and respond clearly to scholars, parents and community members. Ability to use a variety of media and technology to enhance communications. Ability to function effectively as part of a teaching team, support peer teachers, plan collaboratively, and work constructively with the teaching team to solve problems that arise.

Ability to guide the learning process toward the achievement of stated goals and objectives. Ability to establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects in compliance with the educational/curricular goals. Ability to encourage and implement policies, practices, and procedures which create a positive atmosphere, conducive to learning.

Willingness to assist the administration in governing student life in order to maintain a safe environment. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Master's Degree in Education or related field preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required.
