PRIMARY PURPOSE:
  • The Tester assists the Bilingual/ESL Language Placement Center in the testing of students new to the district who speak a language other than English and provides assistance to the schools throughout the school year.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Demonstrates proficiency in oral and written English and Spanish or English and Vietnamese.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in administering and scoring oral/written language assessments for program placement
  • General office skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to maintain clerical records
  • Ability to communicate verbally with others (in person or on the telephone) in a pleasant, service-orientated manner.

Minimum Experience:
  • One year experience in a bilingual office setting

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Welcome and inform all students and parents sent to the BIL/ESL Language Placement Center of the testing process required by law and the programs available through Arlington ISD.
  • Administer and score Language assessments for all students new to Arlington ISD that indicate a language other than English on the Home Language Survey.
  • Assist school/s with on-site testing (PreK-12) when needed.
  • Maintain current files on all students tested by the Language Placement Center including parent permission and verification of education.
  • Reports/queries as needed to monitor District and campus ELL student performance.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the World Languages Coordinator.

Additional Job Information
This position is part-time position (less than 20 hours a week) and pays the minimum of the Admin Support 3 range.
