Job description

Elementary School Cafeteria Assistant

Salary: $12.50 per hour

Length of Contract: Hourly

Monday to Friday 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must complete required district safety training prior to starting
  • Possesses acceptable verbal and written communication skills
  • Any alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board of Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable

Immediate Supervisor: Elementary School Administration

Job Summary:

To assist in supervising students during all Elementary School lunch shifts. To assist in providing a safe, efficient, well-organized cafeteria environment for all students.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Ensures a safe environment for all students
  • Provides direct supervision of all students in the school cafeteria
  • Monitors the interior of the cafeteria to guarantee a clean and sanitary environment for students (Ex. Assist in wiping tables between classes)
  • Develops a cooperative working relationship with school personnel
  • Assists in communication of student needs to appropriate school staff member
  • Collaborates with school administrators, teachers, and school staff in student cafeteria seating assignments
  • Exhibits appropriate role modeling through language, dress, and hygiene at all times (See Staff Dress Code - AR GBERA-R)
  • Enforces all school regulations
  • Completes all required safety trainings
  • Exhibits professionalism in dealing with school-officials, students, and parents
  • Inspects cafeteria after completion of each lunch shift for children, and inspects for items left behind for lost and found
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the School Administration
