Job Title: Production Supervisor
Departments: Operations/Assembly
Reports To: Production Manager
Job Class: Exempt (Salary)
Pay Rate: Dependent upon experience
Location: Orlando, FL
Position Summary:
The production supervisor role is a position leading mechanical/electrical assemblers in solder, general assembly, and fabrication. Responsibilities include planning hardware through assembly processes, status reporting and management of quality and schedule goals for multiple work cells / areas.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overall leadership of mechanical and electrical assemblers.
  • Management of production schedule ensuring meeting objectives for deliveries, cost, and quality
  • Conduct hiring and releasing of workers as required to maintain production schedules
  • Create a work environment conducive to increasing employee morale and motivation to accomplish performance objectives
  • Supervise and evaluate performance
  • Ensure training plans are implemented and effective
  • Build a flexible team through cross training initiatives
  • Maintain good employee relations and adherence to policies and procedures
  • Take appropriate disciplinary actions as required
  • Confers with other supervisors and managers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments to everything is running with appropriate parameters
  • Maintain visual management tools including Key Performance Indicator (KPI) boards and performance charts to monitor progress to goals, prioritize issues and drive actions
  • Ability to supervise across multiple shifts as needed
  • Drive continuous improvement activities
  • Improve processes to eliminate wasteful practices within the department
  • Maintain neat and clean work areas and ensure compliance with safety and 5S standards; ensure a safe work environment for all employees
  • Ownership of all production floor activities

Supervises: Hourly production personnel, including mechanical, electrical assemblers, and technicians assigned to the Assembly production line.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Strong background in electronics and solder assembly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and flexible manufacturing environment, including overtime as required.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with Engineering and other cross-functional teams across multiple platforms and departments.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong MRP System experience.
  • Must be able to work with ITAR data without a license.

Education, Experience and Training:
  • Associate degree in Electronics, Electronics Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role, or technical experience related within the defense industry. Prior experience in the defense industry preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience in a complex manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with production tracking, scheduling, cost management, and quality management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with RF filters, oscillators, and crystals preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required for the position.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and related by-products.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
