This role requires strong technical skill, attention to detail, and strict adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, including AS9100 and special-process controls.

Key Responsibilities

Electron Beam Welding Operations
• Set up, program, and operate electron beam welding equipment, including vacuum chamber preparation and beam parameter configuration (voltage, current, focus, travel speed).
• Perform EB welds on precision aerospace components with tight dimensional and metallurgical tolerances.
• Verify joint fit-up, cleanliness, and material condition prior to welding.
• Conduct in-process monitoring of weld quality and adjust parameters as required.

Quality & Compliance
• Perform work in compliance with AS9100, customer specifications, internal procedures, and special-process requirements.
• Complete required inspection documentation, travelers, and weld records accurately and in real time.
• Support first-article inspections (FAI), audits, and customer or regulatory reviews related to EB welding processes.
• Identify and escalate non-conformances; support root-cause and corrective-action activities.

Equipment & Process Control
• Conduct routine machine checks, preventative maintenance tasks, and basic troubleshooting of EB welding equipment.
• Maintain vacuum integrity, tooling, fixtures, and consumables in accordance with documented procedures.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on process development, parameter optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Safety & Housekeeping
• Follow all safety protocols related to high-voltage equipment, vacuum systems, and material handling.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment consistent with 5S and Lean practices.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of experience operating electron beam welding equipment in a precision manufacturing or aerospace environment.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, weld symbols, and work instructions.
• Experience working under regulated quality systems (AS9100, ISO, NADCAP-style environments preferred).
• Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and process discipline.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Information

Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience welding aerospace alloys (titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, aluminum).
• Familiarity with metallurgical principles, heat-affected zones, and weld penetration profiles.
• Experience supporting NDT inspection methods (e.g., FPI, radiography) related to EB weld validation.
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement exposure.
• Technical certification or formal training in EB welding or related special processes.
• Prior experience using Cambridge Vacuum Engineering beam welding machine would be a distinct advantage.

Competencies & Behaviors
