Our team is growing, and we currently have an opportunity for an Electrician:

Project Location: Kingsport, TN

Job Description

The statements below reflect the items considered necessary to describe the essential functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential Functions:

  • Safely plan, layout, install, and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment per NEC and customer specifications
  • Plan and install new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and codes with minimal to no oversight
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit, using tools, such as hacksaws, porta-bands, pipe threaders and pipe benders.
  • Pull wire through conduit, assisted by Electrician Helper(s).
  • Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using wire strippers, twisting or otherwise splicing wires together and applying tape or terminal caps.
  • Connect wiring to power equipment, using hand tools.
  • Install control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Connect power cables to equipment, such as motor, and install grounding leads.
  • Test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using test instruments, such as ohmmeter, megger and oscilloscope.
  • Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and needs for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • May cut or weld steel structural members, using flame-cutting and welding equipment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary

General Educational Development Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency

Additional Requirements

  • Prefer 3-5 years experience as Industrial Electrician, NCCER or equivalent certification
  • Must be capable of working at elevated heights
  • Must have the ability to distinguish color differentiation for the purpose of identifying wire colors and color-coded safety indicators.
  • Must be knowledgeable concerning types and uses of materials, parts, and assemblies used in electrical construction throughout the plant.
  • Must be knowledgeable concerning use of all tools, machines and other equipment involved in electrical construction

  • Attend work consistently in an always on time and reliable manner
  • Follow all safety rules and standards for the company and for the site
  • Understand and follow direction from the direct supervisor

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The job requires occasionally remaining on one's feet in an upright position without moving for long periods of time, occasionally moving about on foot for long periods of time, remaining in a seated position for long periods of time, and/or climbing stairs, stepladders, extension ladders and scaffolding ladders.
