Job description

Inspector โ€“ Electrical (ELE) | Rancho Cucamonga, CA | Full-Time | $28 to $32 per hour QAI Laboratories is looking for an experienced electrical professional to join our Rancho Cucamonga team. If you enjoy combining hands-on technical work, electrical testing, field inspections, and client interaction, this role gives you the opportunity to build your expertise while contributing to the safety and quality of electrical products. As an Inspector in our electrical safety division, youโ€™ll work with a variety of products and projects, applying recognized US and international standards while collaborating with clients, engineers, project managers, and other QAI professionals. What you will do:  Perform electrical product testing and factory/follow-up inspections in accordance with CSA, UL, IEC, NFPA, and other applicable standards.Interpret and apply electrical codes, standards, and test methods to evaluate products and support certification programs.Conduct testing, analyze results, and prepare clear, accurate test and inspection reports.Schedule inspections, coordinate directly with clients, and communicate technical requirements and findings effectively.Build and assemble test fixtures and follow established testing procedures and work instructions.Support Project Managers and QAI teams with technical expertise and project activities as required.Maintain accurate project documentation, inventory, and organized laboratory work areas.Continue developing knowledge of electrical safety standards, testing methods, and QAI procedures.Travel for field inspections, primarily across BC and Alberta, as required.Work independently and collaboratively while taking ownership of assigned projects and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.Other duties as assigned by the manager or its designee
What you will need: Technical diploma in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.2+ years of electrical product testing and/or inspection experience.Working knowledge of CEC Part I & II and NEC; related certifications are an asset.Strong communication, problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a willingness to learn.Comfortable using electrical lab tools and able to lift up to 50 lbs.Valid driverโ€™s license and willingness to travel, primarily across United States & CanadaForklift experience is an asset; training can be provided.
  Key Technical Competence: Apply sound professional judgment when conducting electrical product inspections, testing, and evaluations. Perform inspections and testing safely, following applicable safety practices, codes, standards, and guidelines. Maintain strong technical knowledge of electrical equipment, applicable standards, codes, and test methods. Interpret and apply requirements such as CSA SPE-100 and/or NFPA 791 to specific electrical evaluations. Follow established procedures and instructions when performing testing outside your primary area of expertise. Apply general testing concepts to specific test methods and progressively take on more complex testing as your knowledge develops. Seek guidance from senior personnel when requirements fall outside your knowledge or experience. Manage multiple projects efficiently while maintaining accuracy, quality, and attention to detail. Take ownership and responsibility for assigned projects and ensure work is completed to a high professional standard.
