Electrical engineers often collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and civil engineers on large projects. One common challenge is ensuring clear communication, as each discipline may use different terminology and design approaches. Electrical engineers must also coordinate timelines for component integration and resolve any conflicts in technical specifications. Developing flexibility and strong teamwork skills helps electrical engineers navigate these challenges and contribute effectively to successful project outcomes.

What are jobs in the electrical industry?

Jobs in the electrical industry vary from conducting the construction of wiring systems to performing maintenance for commercial, municipal, or residential areas. In this career, your job duties often include installing and wiring systems, reading blueprints or diagrams for circuits, and inspecting and identifying issues or defective parts. Electrical jobs range from wiremen and outside linemen to residential wiremen and installer technicians. However, most workers are simply called electricians. You can also become a renewable energy technician and work with alternative electricity systems.

Job description

Senior RV Customization & Fabrication Technician

Off Grid RV Service LLC (OGRVS) – Longview, WA

Full-Time | Flat Rate + High Incentives | $80,000–$120,000+ Earning Potential

Off Grid RV Service LLC is looking for a highly skilled Senior RV Customization & Fabrication Technician to join our growing custom RV and fabrication shop.

OGRVS is not a typical RV dealership service department. We specialize in custom off-grid electrical systems, lithium battery systems, solar, inverters, fabrication, remodeling, upgrades, diagnostics, and one-off custom projects.

We're looking for an experienced technician who can be handed a project, figure out the solution, and produce professional-quality work without constant supervision.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Diagnose and repair RV electrical, plumbing, appliance and mechanical systems
  • Install and troubleshoot 12V/24V DC and 120V AC systems
  • Build lithium battery, inverter/charger, solar and DC-DC charging systems
  • Install and program Victron Energy equipment
  • Diagnose complicated electrical problems
  • Fabricate custom brackets, mounting systems, cabinetry and components
  • Perform interior modifications and remodeling
  • Install HVAC systems, appliances, refrigerators and accessories
  • Build and terminate high-current DC electrical systems
  • Read wiring diagrams and develop custom solutions
  • Diagnose and correct unsafe or poorly installed equipment
  • Work on motorhomes, fifth wheels, travel trailers, camper vans and custom builds
  • Accurately document completed work and additional repairs needed

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who can think, diagnose and build.

Strong candidates may come from RV, automotive, diesel, marine, electrical, fabrication, overland or custom vehicle backgrounds.

Experience in several of these areas is highly desirable:

  • RV repair and diagnostics
  • Automotive or marine electrical
  • Solar and lithium systems
  • Victron Energy systems
  • Inverter/charger installations
  • High-current DC electrical
  • 120V AC electrical
  • Welding and metal fabrication
  • Cabinetry/woodworking
  • Plumbing and propane
  • HVAC
  • Chassis electrical diagnostics
  • Custom vehicle fabrication

Traditional RV dealership experience is not required if you're an exceptional technician with transferable electrical, mechanical or fabrication skills.

Flat Rate + High Performance Incentives

This is a high-income position built for a technician who can produce.

OGRVS offers competitive flat-rate compensation with aggressive production incentives and bonuses.

We don't believe a highly skilled technician producing 50 or 60 billable hours should make the same money as someone barely producing 30.

Expected earning potential for a proven technician: $80,000–$120,000+ per year.

Compensation includes:

  • Competitive flat-rate pay based on demonstrated skill and experience
  • High billable-hour incentives
  • Additional bonuses for exceeding weekly production targets
  • Increased earning opportunities for technicians producing 40, 50, 60+ quality billable hours per week
  • No artificial earnings ceiling for technicians consistently producing profitable, high-quality work
  • Opportunities for increased flat-rate compensation as skill and production increase
  • Potential advancement into Lead Technician or Shop Foreman positions as OGRVS continues to grow

If you can produce, we want you to make serious money.

We're looking for someone who wants their paycheck to reflect their ability—not someone who simply wants to punch a clock.

What We Expect

We want a technician who:

  • Shows up reliably and is ready to work
  • Works independently without needing constant supervision
  • Takes pride in clean, professional installations
  • Can diagnose problems instead of throwing parts at them
  • Understands electrical and safety-related work must be done correctly
  • Can estimate the labor and materials necessary to complete a project
  • Is comfortable with custom jobs where there isn't always a factory procedure
  • Takes responsibility for their workmanship
  • Keeps customer vehicles and their work area reasonably clean
  • Communicates problems before they become bigger problems
  • Understands the importance of efficiency, quality and billable production

Why Work at OGRVS?

You're not going to spend every day doing repetitive warranty work.

One week you may build a large Victron lithium/solar system. The next could involve custom fabrication, cabinetry, HVAC, generator integration, chassis charging, electrical diagnostics or completely redesigning part of an RV.

We're looking for someone who enjoys building cool stuff and solving difficult problems.

If you're the technician everyone else comes to when they can't figure something out, we want to talk to you.

Position: Senior RV Customization & Fabrication Technician
Location: Longview, Washington
Schedule: Full-Time
Compensation: Flat Rate + High Performance Incentives
Earning Potential: $80,000–$120,000+ annually for a proven high-production technician

To apply, send your resume/work history. Photos of custom builds, electrical installations, fabrication, cabinetry, vehicle builds, or other examples of your work are strongly encouraged.
