Job description

Job Summary:
Residential Electrical Trainer is responsible for the hands-on residential electrical training program. Works with apprentices during training to instruct on installation practices, answer questions, and lead by example. The trainer is responsible to administer testing, coach apprentices as well as perform other supervisory type duties.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
  • Following and implementing training schedules for the apprentice staff.
  • Providing motivation and assistance to promote a healthy learning environment.
  • Inspecting and assessing the work done by the apprenticeship staff.
  • Reading and interpreting design schematics to ensure the proper installation of electrical systems.
  • Troubleshooting & instruction to diagnose system failures and equipment malfunctions.
  • Ensuring the work is completed on schedule and to code.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work area.
  • Consulting with management, supervision, and other workers on-site.

Required skills / Abilities:
  • Proven work experience as an Electrician with verifiable work history.
  • Strong leadership and installation skills.
  • In depth knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with state electrical and safety codes.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • A good eye for detail.
  • Be a motivator and a positive mentor.
  • Have a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing, climbing up and down ladders and squatting.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
