Job description

Job Title: Senior Safety Coordinator (Electrical Construction)
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-impact Senior Safety Coordinator to lead field-level safety operations for major electrical construction projects. This role is responsible for driving a "culture of care" by coaching field crews, auditing regulatory compliance, and influencing safe behaviors across a union workforce. The ideal candidate is a technical expert in electrical safety standards (NFPA/NESC) and a proactive mentor who can translate complex safety protocols into actionable field practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Field Leadership & Auditing: Conduct daily field walks to evaluate safety program effectiveness. Partner with Foremen to develop Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and project-specific corrective action plans.
• Coaching & Mentorship: Provide real-time coaching for employees on safety behaviors. Recognize excellence in safe practices and intervene constructively when risks are identified.
• Training & Orientation: Facilitate site-specific safety orientations and co-lead technical safety training, including HazCom, Fall Protection, and Lockout/Tag-out (LOTO).
• Incident Management: Support project leadership in comprehensive incident investigations and facilitate the management of all injury/illness cases to ensure proper care and documentation.
• Compliance Oversight: Ensure all site activities meet or exceed NFPA, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI standards. Monitor subcontractor compliance with project-specific safety requirements.
• Equipment Safety: Perform periodic evaluations of power tools and heavy equipment (scissor lifts, forklifts, fall protection gear) to ensure all assets are maintained in peak working order.
• Meeting Facilitation: Audit and support daily safety briefings and weekly toolbox talks, ensuring high levels of crew participation and topical relevance.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in EHS, Construction Management, or Engineering preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years of major construction safety experience. Direct experience in Electrical Construction or high-voltage environments is highly preferred.
• Licensure/Certifications: * BCSP Certification (e.g., CHST, ASP, CSP) is REQUIRED.
• OSHA 30 Construction is REQUIRED.
• CPR/First Aid Certified (Trainer designation preferred).
• Technical Skills: Deep understanding of electrical industry consensus standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Soft Skills: Ability to work independently and influence behaviors through strong communication. Experience working with a union workforce is a significant plus.
• Languages: Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) skills are highly desired. Equal Opportunity Employer / Disabled / Protected Veterans
