Electrical Testing & Commissioning Technician – Data Center | Multiple Levels

Locations: Caroline County & Richmond, VA; Tysons/Washington, DC

We're hiring Electrical Testing & Commissioning Technicians and Specialists to support the testing, troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning of critical electrical power systems for mission-critical data center facilities.

We have multiple openings and levels available, with responsibilities and compensation based on your experience and qualifications. Candidates with backgrounds in electrical testing, commissioning, field service, power distribution, industrial electrical systems, electrical equipment startup, or military electrical systems are encouraged to apply.

This is a long-term career opportunity for electrical professionals who want to work with sophisticated power systems and advance their careers in the rapidly growing data center industry.

What You'll Do

  • Perform electrical acceptance testing, maintenance testing, startup, and commissioning
  • Test, troubleshoot, and commission low- and medium-voltage electrical power distribution systems
  • Perform startup and commissioning of switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, MCCs, cables, and related equipment
  • Conduct relay testing, insulation resistance testing, power factor testing, and other electrical tests
  • Use electrical test equipment such as Doble, Omicron, Megger, Vanguard, Fluke, or similar equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment and power distribution systems
  • Analyze test results and identify equipment or system issues
  • Verify electrical equipment operates properly and according to specifications
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, test procedures, and equipment documentation
  • Document testing, startup, commissioning activities, and test results
  • Work alongside commissioning engineers, experienced technicians, and project teams
  • Follow NFPA 70E, LOTO, and all required electrical safety procedures
  • Work independently or take a lead role on projects depending on experience and qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • 3–10+ years of experience in electrical testing, commissioning, field service, power distribution, industrial electrical systems, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with switchgear, transformers, breakers, protective relays, MCCs, medium-voltage equipment, or similar electrical systems
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical power systems
  • Experience with electrical testing, equipment startup, commissioning, or field service
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation
  • Experience with Doble, Omicron, Megger, Vanguard, Fluke, or similar testing equipment is a plus
  • NETA or NICET certification is a plus
  • Technical school training, engineering education, or military electrical experience is a plus
  • Data center, utility, industrial, manufacturing, or mission-critical power experience is a plus
  • Strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Willingness to travel based on project requirements

Multiple Career Levels Available

We're hiring at multiple experience levels, including Electrical Testing Technicians and Electrical Commissioning Technicians/Specialists.

Candidates with 3+ years of relevant electrical experience may be considered for technician-level positions, while candidates with extensive testing, commissioning, NETA, medium-voltage, relay testing, or power distribution experience may qualify for more senior-level opportunities.
