Job description

Job Title: Electrical Engineer Location: Lake Mary, FL Type: Direct Hire Work Model: Hybrid – onsite Overview System One is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a full-time position in Lake Mary, FL. This position is responsible for designing the electrical power distribution system for the auxiliary equipment of our Gas Turbine projects. Our voltage levels are primarily in the low-voltage side (600V and below) with implementation of equipment such as MCCs, Panelboards, LV Transformers, DC Systems and Batteries.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical power distribution systems for Gas Turbine auxiliary equipment, primarily working with low-voltage systems (600V and below) including MCCs, Panelboards, LV Transformers, DC Systems, and Batteries.
  • Develop single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical load lists, motor lists, wiring diagrams, control schematics, cable schedules, and termination schedules.
  • Create power system plans, lighting plans, electrical room layouts, elevation drawings, conduit and cable tray arrangements, and hazardous area classifications.
  • Perform calculations for equipment sizing (breakers, overload devices, relays), cable/conduit spacing, and illumination levels; maintain BOMs and other design documentation.
  • Review and develop electrical, control, and instrumentation wiring diagrams and cable lists using SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), and SmartPlant 3D (S3D).
  • Assist in preparing purchase specifications and selecting vendors for electrical equipment.
  • Generate electrical drawing packages to document logic, wiring, and system interactions, interpreting and designing per applicable electrical codes such as NEC/NFPA 70, CEC, IEC, ISA, AGA, etc.
  • Investigate, understand, and interpret electrical codes for project compliance and respond to technical inquiries from clients, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Ensure project schedules are met, support manufacturing and commissioning, and assist junior engineers and interns in their development.
  • Possibly travel up to 10% for project requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in industrial power distribution design (up to 600VAC and 220VDC); five (5) or more years preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, industry standards, including NFPA 70.
  • Experience with electrical design software such as SmartPlant Electrical, SmartPlant Instrumentation, SmartPlant 3D, AutoCAD, or Revit is a plus.
  • Familiarity with generators (150 MVA and above), Gas or Steam Turbine power plants, and auxiliary systems is desirable.
  • Ability to interpret electrical standards and codes, develop design documentation, and communicate effectively with all project stakeholders.
  • Inclination toward computer programming languages encouraged.
  • Travel availability up to 10%.
