Description

Markon is seeking a seasoned electrical or power engineer to provide expert engineering advice and guidance to the US Government to ensure electrical and power systems within US secure facilities meet applicable requirements for our Bethesda, MD client.

Responsibilities
  • Manage power related projects for secure USG facilities. These projects may be new or renovations.
  • Review construction blueprints and designs of USG facilities for compliance with NEC, Federal, State, and local laws and requirements.
  • Respond to requests for information on potential technical security vulnerabilities with respect to electrical power systems and red/black isolation.
  • Leverage your engineering expertise to provide input to draft policies, best practices, and studies as needed.
Qualifications

Required:

  • An Active TS/SCI with a current Counter Intelligence Polygraph (Preferably from this client).
  • Minimum of 8+ years of architectural/design construction or related electrical work environments.
  • Extensive experience installing/designing secure power systems for Intelligence Community facilities.
  • Deep understanding of red/black power isolation and grounding requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of USG Secure Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) security requirements.
  • Working knowledge of electric power generation systems and components, electronic controls, fuel systems, and life and safety.
  • Experience managing large, complex and highly visible projects.
  • Experience drafting policy documents.
  • Relevant working experience with:
    • Electrical switchgear systems,
    • Transfer switches,
    • Power distribution,
    • Motor Generators and Transformers,
    • Reading and interrupting construction technical design drawings and schematics (e.g., construction design plans, electrical circuit plans, power supply studies, etc.),
    • Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) Systems,
    • Power Conditioning and Filtering.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills,
